Re: O/T diversion ... The Voice Spring and FALL 2017 !

My husband and I are faithful watchers of The Voice. Our adult daughter came over one night while we were giving our expert opinions on the talent and got a real kick out of our interaction with the TV!!! Watched the 2017 kick off last night and have to say in my opinion it didn't disappoint. No spo...

5 years 8 months later...

Well, it has been what seems like an eternity, but just less than 6 years ago I started down this journey. Thursday, my oncologist at MD Anderson in Houston, TX gave me a hug and sent me on my way. He told me I am cured and have a little higher chance than the general population of getting colon can...

Re: BrownBagger ....... I don't know what to say

BrownBagger was a living tribute of how to live life to the fullest regardless of the diagnosis. He was one of the first people to respond to my very first post here 5 years ago. I too am shocked by this sad news. I wish his family peace during a difficult time. Eric you are missed.

Re: New DX, Realistic Expectations

Hi Cynthia, This site is a wealth of information and support. You won't find a better place to ask questions, vent, etc. I worked through out my treatments. I didn't always feel great, but managed to stick it out most days. Here is how my typical routine went: Showed up for inpatient infusion usuall...

Re: No more scans, feeling scared

I am a patient at MD Anderson in Houston, TX. I had 1/19 nodes come back positive. I am going to be moved to the survivorship clinic at MD Anderson after my next set of scans this month if nothing shows up. In my opinion 3 years seems too soon to stop monitoring, but I am not a Dr. My Onc mentioned ...

Colorectal 3A - 4 year scan results - NED!

I have been lurking off and on for the past year or so, but really have relied on this forum for support and information the last 4 years and can't express how grateful I am to have this resource! I had my annual scans and 6 month blood work on March 26th. Met with the Oncologist on Monday March 28t...

Re: Side effects calf cramping and painfully tight

Dear SuseB, So sorry you are experiencing the muscular issues as well as neuropathy. I too had severe calf cramping and hand clawing and also had some issues with my lips cramping of all things. My oncologist decided to deliver the chemo I received at the hospital at a slower rate which helped immen...

Re: Upcoming Ultralow Anterior Resection

I had an open LAR, tumor wasn't quite as low as yours though. Ask for an epidural to help control your pain. They place it prior to surgery and mine was left in for a couple of days afterward. It was a God send. Your bowels will take a bit to "wake up" so chewing gum will help with that as...

Re: Finished with Chemo! Now what???

I would suggest having your onc check your vitamin D3 levels as many of us are deficient in D3. I take 2000 IU per day, but started off at 5000 until it came up to a more acceptable level. My levels are checked about every 6 months and dosage adjusted as needed. Congrats to completing your chemo! Su...

Re: PET/CT verses CT post chemo

I have only had CT/w contrast since diagnosis and post chemo. I had one every six months for the first 2 years and have recently graduated to once a year follow up scans. I have NEVER had a PET scan. I asked my onc (MD Anderson) and was told that PET is not the scan of choice when finding something ...

Re: I am new and a bit frightened

Sorry you have a reason to seek out this forum, but it is a great place to come and ask questions of people who really know and get what you are going through. None of us are doctors and can not diagnose, but we can share our experiences and hope they will help. I would insist upon a colonoscopy. Go...

Re: Ativan

Kenny,

I saw the Who in Oakland, CA way back when at age 20. They Rocked! My ears rang for over a week. The LOUDEST concert I have ever seen over the years - huh I thought the ringing in my ears the last 2 years was from chemo, maybe the Who is the culprit!

Susan
