Re: FOR ALL ON CLINICAL TRIALS (edited name)

Hi Dianne: To answer your question, they did blood tests on days 2, 3 and 5 after the first infusion and checked CEA each time. Then they checked it again on day 7. They mentioned it could down, then go up again, then down again and seemed to indicate that based on past experience on this trial. So,...

Re: FOR ALL ON CLINICAL TRIALS (edited name)

Just wanted to post a quick update -- I am currently enrolled in the Phase I Clinical Trial using Designer T-cells at Roger Williams Hospital in Rhode Island. Had my first t-cell infusion last Monday, coupled with an Interleukin-2 pump. The procedure went well, except I had problems with nausea/vomi...

Re: Hair regrowth on Irinotecan?

"Wife says I have a weak chin, but a weak chin is better than a ratty looking goatee, in my book. And it is, after all, my book." This sure made me smile :) -- it is good to remember that although we do not have control over a whole lot of things during treatment, there are some things tha...

Re: FOR ALL ON CLINICAL TRIALS (edited name)

This is such an important thread and I am truly thankful for all I have learned from this club. It has been 19 months since my diagnosis, and despite a recent CT scan that showed everything was "stable", I had to have stents placed in my liver ducts because one of the tumors caused my bill...

Re: free kindle book - Gilmore on stage IV

Funny, I have not been on here for a while, and am scrolling through and come across this thread. I have this book on my desk next to my computer, since I just finished reading it about 5 minutes ago! Loved it and am so glad others on here are reading it!

Thank you all for taking the time to read and respond to this post -- your well wishes and knowledge are greatly appreciated! Will definitely talk to my doctor about the CA9-19.

CEA Levels Were NOT AT ALL Accurate

Have not been on here for a while and am guessing that I am not the only one to have mentioned this, but here it is. Diagnosed in June, 2011, Stage IV cc with multiple mets to the liver. CEA's steadily declined with Oxalliplatin, Avastin and Xeloda. Scans showed significant reduction. Went off of Ox...

Re: The cup tipped over....

You are definitely not alone on this! My cup has not only tipped over numerous times, but neuropathy in my fingers has me dropping cups and assorted other things on a regular basis! Finding items on the floor with no warning that they have slipped out of my grasp just plain shocks me every time and ...

Re: signing consent for phase I trial today

Dianne: All my best wishes to you as you start this trial -- treatment that works with one's own immune system seems to be the type of treatment that shows great promise for the future from all I have read. And, you certainly have a fabulous cheering section with you in this Club! I asked my doctor ...

Re: Hey Colon Club

Just cast my vote for you and your brave husband. From a woman who is just now well enough to go on her own honeymoon with her Marine (after waiting for a year to feel good enough to go!), I wish you and your husband the best of health and happiness! OOO-RAH!

Re: hands and feet feel like they're asleep

Hope this is helpful -- I have had a frustrating time with numbness and "pins and needles" in my hands and feet due to the Oxi, which I have been off of since November. My handwriting was terrible, I could not put on jewelry or deal with buttoning clothes and my calves and feet felt like t...

Re: Chemo finally getting to the taste buds

I, too, had a terrible time with Oxi ruining my taste buds and after 10 or 11 rounds (lost count after a while), I was in tears over nothing tasting right. It got so bad that I was not able to remember when food had tasted good! Anyway, I am not sure if this is helpful to you, but while on the oxi I...

Re: Another cancer hero

So glad I opened this post -- thank you for sharing this info about this upcoming film. When I was first diagnosed, my sister kept talking about him and how healthy he had looked on screen and how quickly it seemed that he had passed away. After reading this link, there is no doubt he is a hero for ...
