Re: From the Netherland; rectalcancer with lung mets

Please search my name on this board for posts about my experience. Although i have recurrence and am not in a great place r...

Port Infection

Over the past few months, every time my port was accessed I would have a very strange reaction where I would get chills, start shaking and couldn't breath. Often with vomiting. After complying to my oncologist, he said in a very nonshelant way "it happens sometimes". Yeah, right. A few wee...

Re: Update on hubby's lung surgery

It's wonderful that you found an aggressive surgeon. Where is your husband being treated? Please keep us posted on how things go. Folfiri worked really well for me.

Access to drugs....

I had some testing done of a met that was just removed from my ovary. The testing revealed that I am resistant to some drugs like 5fu and oxi. However, I am sensitive to irinotecan (which I have been receiving as part of folfiri) for over a year. Is there anyone here who is only getting the irinotec...

Re: Shout out to Cb75

Thanks :) I've been around. This surgery has really taken quite a bit out of me. I was left with a Takeoff Cathater in my lung to drain my plural effusion. This has resulted in quite a bit of pain an discomfort well beyond the pain of my ovary removal. I'm at a bit of a loss. I'm concerned that my l...

Re: Shout out to Cb75

Hi!! Thanks so much for the post :) it really is uplifting when going through this crap. I've had quite the few weeks. After taking a short chemo break my body managed to grow a huge mass offy ovary. Luckily it was surgical and I had it removed Thursday. I was discharged today. All went well. It was...

Private Testing/ Champions Oncology

Hi, I've had a recurrence in my ovaries. I'm scheduled for surgery next week. I'm looking into some testing of the sample to determine future options. I've come across a company called Champions Oncology. Here is the link https://championsoncology.com. Does anyone have any information on this? Or an...

Re: ONC says chemo for life.. really?

I'm in your boat. Stage IV with lung mets. I had a great response to folfiri and avastin. Everything gone but one spot. After 14 months straight, my oncologist suggested a break. My last scan, two and a half months into the break, I have fluid in my plura that needed to be drained and a large mass g...

Re: Laser Lung Surgery in Germany

I had bi lateral laser lung resection by Dr. Rolle in Germany. I had my left lung resected in November of 2013 and my right lung resected in Feb 2014. I've had mixed response in that the first surgery went well and all were resected and it remains cancer free, however, my right lung could not be res...

Re: O/T … I hesitate to post this

I've been a member of this forum for quite some time. It was a life line for me of information, hope and knowing that I am not alone with this disease. Since the tone of this forum has changed, I haven't been as involved or responsive as I would typically be. I have always tried to share information...

Re: High blood pressure

Avastin can cause an increase in blood pressure. Over the year and a few months that I have been on it, with FOLFIRI, I have seen my normal/low blood pressure rise to something around 140/90 or so on a regular basis. I've been told it's not an issue. I've also heard that it could be a sign that the ...
