Re: Husband diagnosed Stage 4, age 32

Exaussie has some great advice. Mine would be to breathe. Often. Stage 4 is not the end of the world. I was dx'd Nov 2011. No treatment since July 2012. I am still here and doing well.

Why I stopped posting

When I was in active treatment it seemed that all of my senses were heightened. Everything seemed just that much more than it had been in the past. When my treatment ended it felt like I had been cut loose without the coping skills to deal with what I had been thru. Being stage 4 I fully expected th...

Re: Blood in stool

Earlier this year I had the same issue. I told my onc and the next thing I knew I was scheduled for a colonoscopy. Again. Talking to the onc he said it could be a tumor or a internal hemorrhoid.
Thankfully? it was an internal hemorrhoid.

Re: I Don't Think This Is What They Meant

I am not sure that what I am making is really hot fudge. Honestly I don't care if it is or not. I like it. Maybe too much. All I am doing is melting some dark chocolate in the microwave, adding some butter, sugar and half and half. I don't measure anything when I cook. Ever. Baking is a different st...

Re: I Don't Think This Is What They Meant

I too was told to eat what ever I could during treatment. So I did. For the first year after treatment I had a hot fudge sundae every night. EVERY NIGHT. I eventually just kinda quit. I didn't think about it I just did. I had gained my weight back and my pants would stay up. I still love hot fudge ...

Re: First-time NED

Hi John, Good to hear that you are NED. Good place to be. One thing that is bothering me and I hope I am reading it wrong. They are going to make you wait a year before retesting? If so you might want to look into this a bit more. I have been NED since July 2012. I still get blood work every three m...

Re: Solitary Liver Met

I too had a solitary liver met. The liver met was found first. It showed up during an ultrasound on the gall bladder. I did 6 tx of folfox before surgery. The surgery was a combination of both the liver resection and colon resection. 6 more tx of folfox and they sent me on my way. That was July 2012...

Re: Any J-pouchers been able to put on weight?

I have not had the j-pouch surgery. I did lose a bunch of weight thru treatment. I went from 180 or so down to about 140 or less. My pants wanted to fall down all the time. Not good. This is probably the wrong thing to do butt, it is what I did. I had a hot fudge sundae just about every night for a ...

Re: One Day Before Chemo

My first chemo treatment my Mom and Sister went with me. After that first one I drove myself to and from the hospital by myself. SCCA had private rooms with a chair and a bed in them along with a tv. I would bring a lap top computer and surf the net, watch a movie or my favorite take a nap. I love n...
