Re: scanxiety

Another update: I was somewhat confused to the use of the Radiologists wording in regards to the 'stable retroperitoneal Lymphadenopathy' and as my Appt with my oncologist wasn't until the tenth I figured it email the Radiologist to see if she might be able to explain how she reported something stab...

Re: Have not been diagnosed yet...

I noticed you said you didn't want people to tell you to wait until you have been diagnosed, however no one on this board would be able to tell you, symptoms or not, that you have cancer. I did have pain, however it wasn't from the Tumor in my Colon, it was because it had grown into my abdomen and a...

Re: scanxiety

Hey guys! Just a quick update. I had an ultrasound on the liver, was told the lesson is too small to determine. Since my last post only change has been some pain in my lower back, but being Christmas time, I've decided to watch and wait like the doctors have told me, without stressing myself. Thanks...

Re: help with terminology

Thanks so much for responding. No. I have never been given a pet scan .I asked my oncologist and he said the fact that cea levels have remained normal, he doesn't think pet will be approved. Though, cea was never a diagnostic tool that worked well with me. It has always remained between .8 and 1 eve...

Re: 30 y/o just diagnosed

Hi there! Though there aren't many of us, there are still some of us young ones lurking around here. I remember when I was first diagnosed I felt so alone. I walked into a colon cancer support group only to be surrounded by people much older than I was ... and age makes a big difference when.it come...

help with terminology

Hello. I posted this in a different category but I'm not seeming to get any responses so I'll try my luck again. Just hoping to understand my scan a bit more and know what sorts of questions to ask my oncologist. Hes a bit evasive at times and though he's an amazing doctor, he often leaves me in won...

scan report received

I was able to get a hold of the report. It says that a focal liver lesion that hadn't been well seen on other scans was noticed. 4mm. It also says "low volume retroperitoneal lymph nodes relatively stable" Can anyone help me with what this means? What are low volume retroperitoneal lymph n...

Re: scanxiety

Thanks so much guys. I've been poking around the internet and it seems to be an all around consensus that the more you scan, the more you find. I guess worrying does absolutely nothing. Good luck janderson. Please keep me posted and let me know how it goes. I appreciate your responses.

scanxiety

Hey all! I'm not sure anyone will even remember me.anymore but a couple of you were amazing support for me when I was diagnosed in 2010. Since then I have come back here and there to ease my mind when scans come up but in all honesty it's tough to stick around sometimes and hear the newbie stories a...

Re: the elephant in the room is revealed

Dear Lauren, I have watched your battle from afar for 2 years now, though I don't think I have ever responded to your amazing caregiver. I know I should be writing this letter to her, but something in my mind prevents me from doing so, and I feel as though I have to personalize it to you. I just nee...

Re: Newbie to the group, 28 mother of 9 month old baby

Hello I just wanted to let you know you are not alone. I was 27 when I was diagnosed. I had 4 children, the youngest was a year old. Its tough, but you will be ok! Remember to lean on your family and friends, ask for help when you need it, and most importantly rest! Its really hard to do when you ha...

Re: thyroid mets?

I don't know what type of doc you are seeing about this but....do NOT assume that because your thyroid levels are 'normal' that there isn't a thyroid problem totally unrelated to your cancer diagnosis. For example, on a routine thyroid panel, my levels look well within normal limits but.....huge fa...

Re: thyroid mets?

Thanks guys :) Yes, I understand if it is thyroid cancer it would be a new primary. It sounds terribly morbid but I'd be sort of relieved to hear thyroid cancer. Cancer sucks all around, I guess its really just the lingering fear of the colon cancer. My fear I think is self inflicted. Too much readi...

Re: thyroid mets?

Thanks brownbagger. I've heard the same about it, and I'm sure if it is thyroid cancer it would be very early considering how closely I'm watched. My biggest fear is that it is a met, simply because I would then be restaged. I know lots of you on here (I don't post very often but read many, many of ...
