Re: Stool Fragmentation

4.5 years out and my poop still looks like deer poop pellets. Just takes multiple times to get it all out. Not painful, not inconvenient, just how it is. May be better if I took metamucil but I dont.

Re: repeat rectal adenomas/LAR?

I'm just cutting and pasting a reply I did to a similar post earlier in the week: Hi - I had a 9x6 cm tubulovillous adenoma that was 2 cm in. I had ULAR at MSKCC with an ace surgeon. It have a hand sewn coloanal anastamosis (or as my friends say, a custom recrum :) I had a temp loop ostomy which was...

Re: Enlarged nodes on MRI after polyp removal?

I had an MRI w an enlarged lymph node and the report said consistent w metastatic disease. As it turns out it was inflamed likely from and d&c I had a few weeks prior for a miscarriage. I had all the lymph nodes removed a few weeks later during my ULAR and they all came back negative. So hard to...

Re: Low Rectal adenoma high grade dysplasia-lost

Hi - I had a 9x6 xm high grade dysplasia tubulovillous adenoma. I was treated at MSKCC. The doctor told me no one in their right mind would order radiation for someone without a definitive diagnosis of invasive Cancer. On the same note I was told it needed to be completely removed and he would treat...

Myriad my risk hereditary Cancer blood test

Just curious if anyone has done this test? I've had 2 doctors recommend it in last few months. It tests your risk for 8 primary cancers, one of which is colon. I did IHC testing at MSKCC and it was negative/normal so did nothing further. That was almost 4 years ago. Was considering calling them and ...

Re: Not coping with ileo

Ostomy sucked for me.cicknow others are grateful for it but I never felt that way. Everyone is so different. I was told I had a 5 percent chance of ending up with one and of course I did - but it was temporary. I also had a 1 year old at the time. I didn't adjust well. I had skin reactions to the ad...

Re: Ultra low anterior resection

I had a ULAR march 2012 - ostomy reversal may 2012. I get that weird, debilitating rectal pressure/pain you are describing, but only when I ovulate. It's like clockwork every month. Initially it was so bad that I couldn't walk up stairs, had to lie on the floor with my legs in butterfly position bec...

Re: Frequent urge to urinate after Open LAR for rectal cancer

I had this and went to see a urologist. He said the majority of people who have LAR have nerve damage to bladder because bladder and rectum share same nerves. Mine only gets aggravated when I have surgery or procedures in the pelvic area and always eventually resolves itself. He recommended I do pel...

Re: New to forum, rectal cancer, must make surgery choice -- help!

Sorry I did want to add - my quality of life now is great. Truly. I have even had another baby since my surgery and had no problems. As I mentioned I do have a new normal but it in no way has impacted my life negatively. The only thing I did want to add is that I do have an issue w scar tissue. This...

Re: New to forum, rectal cancer, must make surgery choice -- help!

I had a 9x6 cm mass which ended up being stage 0 so no chemo/rad. I had surgery at Sloan Kettering and had rectum removed with coloanal anastamosis/temp Ostomy which was reversed 3 months later. My mass was about 2 cm from anal verge. I had some complications in the hospital - was there for 13 days....

Re: Ileostomy Reversal - Urgency & Accidents

It took me a good 3 months to feel comfortable leaving the house for long periods of time, and even then, the first thing I looked for when I arrived anywhere was the bathroom. I remember being at the park with my 2 year old, pushing him in the swing and pooping in my pants. But things did get bette...

Re: Reversal Surgery Next Tuesday

Hi - wanted to wish you luck. I had a super low mass - hand sewn straight connect coloanal anastamosis. The first 3 months were really hard. I was afraid to leave the house and had some accidents. Always was on the lookout for a bathroom. Burning butt from frequency. But I can honestly say after 3 m...

Re: Very Low RC experiences

I had a 9cm mass which ended up being 2cm in. It was stage 0 or precancerous, which we didn't know until it was completely removed. Because the biopsies did not show Cancer my doctor did not want to do radiation. I ended up with a straight connect, hand sewn coloanal anastamosis. I had a temporary o...
