Re: 11 year stage IV cancerversary

Hi All, Congratulations! It’s been a while and I know how much I combed for Stage 4 stories. Diagnosed May 2010 and alive and well. No cancer bumps since 2011. Meanwhile, my two children married (Covid weddings are interesting) wonderful people and a precious grandson was born. He lives two miles aw...

Re: Vats for lung nodules

Hi,

I infrequently check in these days but I had VATS eleven years ago so details are vague (finally) but it was a successful surgery and NED since. No lung issues and recovery was easier than liver/colon resection.

Stage Four and still here.

Good luck,

Eleventh Year

Hi, It’s been a while since posting. I’m in my eleventh year now since a 2010 Stage 4 diagnosis. NED since 2011. Still I can’t believe I’m here but clearly I am. Why?...I do not know but I have seen both my children marry lovely people and am now expecting a first grandchild. I prayed for five years...

Nine Year Anniversary

Hello friends, I just saw my oncologist for the now annual exam and I’ve cleared the nine year mark since my Stage 4 dx. I wanted to send an optimistic message to all who are doubting the possibility for themselves. Exactly how or why I’m doing so well, I don’t know. I remain cautiously optimistic a...

Re: Prep suggestions?

Utwo, I can’t argue your research but a little Gatorade (or any flavored drink) goes a long way with me so drinking mostly Smart Water has allowed me to drink the necessary amount of liquid and then some. Gatorade only leads to some vomiting. If you like Gatorade, then that’s probably the way to go....

Re: Prep suggestions?

Miralax/Ducolax prep- instructions easily found on Internet. Rather than Gatorade, I drink Smart Water. Gummie bears (only the yellow and white) and broth get me through without hunger. Easing up on eating a few days ahead of the prep is helpful. I’ve had many scopes since 2010 dx (don’t even dread ...

Re: Lung specialist at MSK or MDA? Advice, please.

David R Jones MD, now at MSKCC, is the thoracic surgeon who performed my VATS (at a different cancer center) and a genius, in my opinion.

Re: Newly diagnosed stage 4 colon cancer at 42. Looking for hope and inspiration.

I’ve been NED since 11/11 and I received surgery (liver transplant surgeon) at UVA following a consult with Dr. Kemeny at Sloan.

Best to you,

Re: NED maybe. Stage 4, after 10 years Free. FOLFIRi?

Hate, hate, hate that you once again have to handle cancer. Your thought process regarding treatment sounds impressively calm and collected and I’m in awe. I have no real treatment guidance (xeloda was used for my lung lesion and that was in 2011) but am curious of any recurrence symptoms since I as...

Re: In canada MSK not option

Yes, there’s much hope!

I consulted with Dr Kemeny at MSK but ultimately did not choose HAI pump. Instead, I had surgery at another major cancer center in the US. I felt confident in the doctors I chose and have no regrets. NED since 2011.

Best to you,
