Avastin question

Has anyone received avastin only as maintenance after chemotherapy? My insurance company will not cover it since avastin alone is not a standard treatment. Genentech, the maker of avastin, will also not help with the cost for the same reason. I'm still going to get it every three weeks and pay for i...

Re: Liver resection is ON!

I've had two liver resections. The first one was in January '12. Only one met showed on scans but many scattered tiny ones found so they didn't remove any since I had not had any chemo at that time. After 12 rounds of FOLFIRI and SIRT Spheres, I had another surgery in September '12 and the original ...

Re: For those who have had a liver resection...

I had a liver resection on one tumor and nanoknife used on 5 small ones 9/12. I have pain/discomfort in liver area. It almost feels like tight muscles. I had a CT scan yesterday since I am halfway through my chemo and hoping this discomfort is just adhesions. I'll find out Monday.... Lisa

Re: multiple liver mets resection help advice plz

In January I had surgery to remove the one met that showed on scans, 3 cm. During the surgery, at least 8 scattered additional small tumors were found, so no resection was done. I started chemo, FOLFIRI, in February. Then I had SIRT spheres procedure one lobe at a time, in march and April. I complet...

Re: L/T use of Irinotecan?

Caris laboratory did my testing which included KRAS. My insurance said they were not covering it, but I never did receive a bill for the first set of testing in January '11. After my liver resection September '12, tumor was tested again to see if it was developing resistance to chemo. Hope this help...

Re: L/T use of Irinotecan?

I was on FOLFIRI for 12 treatments after my colon resection 10/11. Stage iv with liver mets. Had liver resection on September 10 and I will do 12 more treatments of FOLFIRI. I had molecular testing of my tumor done and FOLFIRI was deemed most effective for me, so we are going to stick with it for no...

Re: SOMEBOBY ON BOARD with SIRT experiences?

I had SIRT spheres in March and April while on FOLFIRI. We tried that after a failed liver resection in January, one tumor that was to be removed became at least 8 small ones found once they got in there. After SIRT spheres and 6 months of chemo, I had the larger tumor (1/2 inch) resected and the na...

Re: RESIDUAL TUMORs after RFA or SBRT...help please

Fede: I recently had one liver tumor resected and five tiny ones were eliminated, hopefully, by the nano knife. From what I understand the advantage of the nano knife is that it can be used very close to arteries or other important features. It does not burn tumors, it uses electrical fields to put ...

Liver resection

Anyone experience muscle cramps or spasms after your liver resection. Twice, when I've tried to lie flat, I had these very painful spasms on my right side and back. Area feels sore after these spasms. I am about 2 1/2 weeks out from surgery.

Any experiences would be appreciated.

I had a liver resection on one tumor and the nanoknife was used on 5 tiny ones. My surgery was September 10. Yesterday and one other time while I was lying flat, I had pain near my liver that felt like a muscle spasm. It went away after about 1 minute. Anyone else have this experience? Lisa

Re: nausea remedy

I found ginger candy to be very helpful. I found it at whole foods. It comes in a green package with a ginger root cartoon character on it. I always kept some with me during my 12 rounds of FOLFIRI. Hope you find something that helps.

Re: Chemo after liver resection or not?

Thank you all for your responses. Would you also share with me how your recovery went? I had surgery one week ago. I came home day 5. I feel pretty well. Moving better with this incision than with my vertical abdomen incision from previous surgery. Of course, I have discomfort along incision and gen...

Thank you, Frances

Yes, I am going to discuss this with both my surgeon and oncologist in October. I also like to hear real world examples, so I appreciate yours.

Chemo after liver resection or not?

I am researching having chemo or not after a recent liver resection. On September 10, I had a 1/2 inch tumor cut out and my surgeon used the nano knife on 5 tiny ones. I am meeting with my doctors on October 8, and I was hoping to find people who had to make the decision of having "mop up"...
