Re: Post hipec recovery advice

I had that NG tube for what seemed like forever. Can't believe they removed and inserted a new one. I sure wouldn't be in any hurry to get it out. Its a pain but does serve a purpose. Can't believe you are typing from ICU anyway! You are doing great! I was on so many pain meds I couldn't type straig...

Re: Question about omentum removal during HIPEC

well,, I learned something today...had no idea there were two omentums! "A Tale of Two Omentums"..... "Torn between two omentums..." Too many pain meds making this girl silly. How is your Mom doing otherwise? The HIPEC doctor should have given you a report detailing the surgery. ...

Re: Husband's Stage IV Recurrent Colon Cancer. What Now?

HIPEC .... HIPEC....HIPEC.

It saves lives. I used Dr. Armando Sardi, Mercy Medical Center, Baltimore, MD. Find a surgeon who specializes in this procedure and has done hundreds of them.

Others are Paul Sugarbaker, Dr. Hannah at University of Maryland. Dr. Alexander.

Best of luck

Re: My husband newly diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer....

Hi Kris, RUN...don't walk ... to a HIPEC doctor. If there is involvement elsewhere in the abdomen he has a better chance of survival if he does HIPEC before any other surgery. Don't know where you live but I went to Dr. Armando Sardi, Mercy medical Center in Baltimore, MD. He and his staff do more H...

Re: Yellowbird, will you check in?

Hi All, Wow...I feel so loved :D The past two weeks have been really blurred. Hospice people came out every day for the first week. Then I just saw a nurse and social worker this week. I'm keeping my spirits up, staying close to home, sleeping a lot, taking a lot of hydrocodone. My CT scan results o...

Re: Stage IV - Good News

Wonderful, wonderful! So happy for you! I was also told I was inoperable - golf ball size liver tumor plus others...tumors in other places too, lung, abdomen, active nodes. Just wondering if they might even reconsider resecting my liver...ahh. I just don't know, I'm on hospice, so i guess that's my ...

Re: very young with stage IV colon cancer

Sounds like she has peritoneal carcinomatosis. Has anyone mentioned Cytoreduction with HIPEC? If done right - by a very experienced surgeon - she might expect a CURE. I suggest she contact a HIPEC surgeon - not the closest one to you - find the best! I went to Armando Sardi in Baltimore, Mercy Medic...

Re: Very frightened 21 year old girl... :(

A word about your diet... Hope you are eating lots of fresh fruit. And when the doctor says fiber...do NOT eat popcorn...I was a popcorn ADDICT, would eat whole bags day upon day. Those little hulls build up in your colon and they are not good! Think about how difficult the hulls are to get out of y...

Re: Did anyone stop their mop-up chemo?

I stopped my mop up chemo early and it came back. Early Dec. 2011 scan showed NED. Began mop up (Folfiri plus Avastin) Late Dec through February. Scan in March showed reoccurrence. (Before chemo ... clear. After chemo...reoccurrence?) I stopped my Folfox after 8 rounds. 3 months later was diagnosed ...
