Paid survey for patient/caregiver BOSTON

Hello all. I haven't been around Colon Club in a long while, but I was pretty active when my husband was a patient. Actually I'd say this place was my lifeline for a good long while. Anyhow, I was contacted about a paid study for a patient and caregiver pair in the Boston area. The patient must eith...

Re: hipec

I know of at least one CC member who has passed 5 years NED after HIPEC. A lot depends on how extensive the peritoneal malignancy is. It is common to "sandwich" the surgery in between chemo - meaning 3-4 months chemo, then HIPEC, then return to chemo. There are others here who've obtained ...

Re: NEW THREAD FOR LOVED ONES LEFT BEHIND ONGOING

I read on Helen's FB page that the surgery went well. She had six inches of colon removed, and pathology should be in early this coming week. I know we all will keep her in our thoughts. Hopefully she will feel up to posting an update for us too.

Re: NEW THREAD FOR LOVED ONES LEFT BEHIND ONGOING

I feel the same... If someone should find their way into my life, so be it... But I just can't go looking. It doesn't feel right and I cringe just thinking of it. It is so hard thinking that anyone could understand me, and all I've been through, and what I may need. I'm 38 which should be young, but...

Re: NEW THREAD FOR LOVED ONES LEFT BEHIND ONGOING

It has been so long since I've visited this forum, but after catching up a bit on this thread, I can say that I plan to come back more often. The conversation is so so so.... Well, just feels like tearing a page out of my own book. I go back and forth between not having any desire to ever date, and ...

Re: RayM is Resting in Peace

Ray and my husband walked a similar path, so we spoke quite a bit before my husband passed. I'm so sorry for his family. I'll raise a glass to you Ray.

Re: To do what the docs suggest, or not?

Sky, It has been a long while since my last visit to the boards. Im sorry to hear about the decisions you are currently facing. You are of course on of the names I recognize and look forward to seeing. Back in the day, my husband was offered an off label use of a drug that has known severe skin side...

Re: Husbands Ex has stage 4, what about the kids?

You have gotten some great advice here so far. My story may help you some, but I'm not comfortable discussing those details on the 'net. If you want to PM me I'd be more than happy to share. Anyway, hang in there. Cancer isn't easy on anyone at all.

Re: HIPEC and QOL

My husband had a very extensive CRS with HIPEC. He was not cured by this procedure, but we were given extra time - and GOOD time together because of the procedure. UPMC is supposed to be one of the best places for hipec, and having an experienced surgeon is key!

Re: Travel insurance

I haven't had a chance to read all of the responses yet, so I'm sorry if I am repeating previous info. We had a big trip planned and we took out travel insurance. What we needed was a note from my husband's oncologist stating that at the time of the purchase of the trip that he was cleared to travel...

Re: NEW THREAD FOR LOVED ONES LEFT BEHIND ONGOING

Helen, As you always have, you warm my heart. I feel so very much for you. I am coming up on the one year mark next month and it is just so very hard to believe. I too know that people think I am doing much better than I am. I've been running around like crazy... I've even packed up and moved. I've ...

Re: NEW THREAD FOR LOVED ONES LEFT BEHIND ONGOING

Vicki- I'm so happy that you are able to have your daughter with you during this time. I'm going on 11 months since losing my DH and it hasn't gotten easy... I'm quite sure it never will. I've packed up and moved more out of neccesity than desire. While I'm about 20 years your junior, I still know t...

I've heard about it briefly but don't know much. I'll be interested in hearing your perspective after your meeting.

Re: NEW THREAD FOR LOVED ONES LEFT BEHIND ONGOING

Lisa, I remember you well indeed and have often thought of you. Since we last were in touch my DH has also passed (3/28/2014) I can scarcely believe it has been ten month in this world without him. Send me a msg if you'd like to connect via Facebook. It was so nice hearing from you.
