Re: Just diagnosed and it's EVERYWHERE...what to do now??

I am at a loss for words adequate for what you are going through. My only comment/recommendation would be to use a multi-disciplinary practice/institution whose various experts (oncologist, radiologists, surgeons, nutritiinist, counselor, social worker, etc.) can work together closely and in a timel...

Re: New to forum - CEA trending up while on adjuvant chemo

CEA spikes during chemo treatments are normal and may be caused by tumor death and/or inflammatory process in the body.

Re: Back to hospital for ascites

I am very sorry for what your wife is going through ... is targeted, intrabdominal chemo (similar to HIPEC w/0 the jnvase surgery) an option for your wife to at least get her peritoneal disease under control since that is what is causing the ascites? I remember someone on this board had this done at...

Re: Déjà vu

I wanted to provide an update on my situation in case it may be a helpful reference to someone else in the future ... I am always looking for and finding answers in others’ stories ... quick recap: stage IV diagnosed in June 2011 with a liver met, currently in remission. My last set of quarterly sca...

Re: Déjà vu

I was wondering if you could expand you signature a little so that we can better understand how your 6+ year journey has unfolded... You earlier shared partial information about your original surgery (see below), but I think it might help to have a more complete picture of your past treatment histo...

Déjà vu

well ... was hoping colonoscopy last week would provide a definitive answer (better yet relief) to the case of the 13 mm nodular density noted on my latest CT scan at the suture line of my prior anastomosis. Colorectal surgeon missed the spot initially but as he was concluding the colonoscopy, he no...

Re: PET scan result

Hello SoConfused, So sorry to hear that you are dealing with a possible recurrence, especially so far out from the original diagnosis. I was diagnosed in 2011, so it is a bit jolting to see that recurrence is still possible when things are going well for so long. Hopefully your situation turns out ...

Re: Scanxiety: Anyone else having testing now?

My CEA last month was normal. What are the chances this is something other than a recurrences? what are some of the other possibilities? if not a new tumor, what can it be? Im so sorry that you're facing uncertainty again after so many years. I hope that this new finding can be easily and successfu...

Re: Scanxiety: Anyone else having testing now?

hi everyone - I had my scans today and have already received a copy of the report ... interesting, I had zero anxiety this time both leading up to and during the scans which was a change for me. Unlike other times, the scans/report have picked up on a concern which requires further follow up by PET ...

Re: PET scan result

I had the reverse case a few months ago, where the CT showed some ill defined tissue behind the anastomosis, so my surgeon recommended a PET/CT which showed almost no uptake so he wasn't concerned anymore. I suspect a biopsy will be the next step for you. Hi everyone - it has been a long while sinc...

Re: 5 year cancerversary TODAY!

Quick update... I had my 5 year CT scan and colonoscopy this week at Mayo Clinic, and both were clear of everything, no polyps even. My surgeon (who also did this colonoscopy) recommends getting a CT scan for each of the next 2 years even though insurance may not cover it. He recommended another co...

Happy Holidays! Would appreciate your feedback.

I'd like to start by wishing you and yours peace, prosperity, health & great happiness this joyous holiday season and during the year ahead. I am hoping for your feedback - I had a recent scan (2 weeks ago) that showed no evidence of disease. During the same follow up, my CEA was tested and it c...
