Pet Scans

Hi all - Hope you have an opinion or answer for me. I was dx with cc in 12/11 and had a right hemicolectomy. I'm being followed by my oncologist and my primary care. I've had shortness of breath for quite some time and after other tests (heart and lung) came out fine, I had a CT Scan of the chest. T...

Re: Pet/ct scan tomorrow. Any Scan buddies w/me?

Hope this isn't a duplicate post (sorry if it is-had trouble posting). I'm having an MRI on Monday. I've had 2 CT's that show what is probably a "cyst"on my liver. Will an MRI determine if it's a cyst or something else. I don't trust the "probably" word anymore. I heard that the ...

Re: Do you say you HAD cancer or you HAVE cancer ???

WOW, that is the exact question I asked my oncologist after my surgery. Her answer was "you HAD cancer and it was removed during your surgery". I see her on Friday for followup bloodwork. We'll see what she says when my CEA levels come back. I can't help but worry that I still HAVE cancer ...

Re: Cea and alcohol

I have tried so hard to quit smoking. I did quit for 6 six weeks after surgery but started again. I know all the reasons not to smoke and I am very unhappy with myself. I know how "stupid" it is to smoke. My husband and kids give me a hard time all the time about it but every time I try to...

Re: CEA changes

I will be having my CEA levels checked in 2 weeks, my 3 month checkup. Is there anything that you eat, vitamins, etc. that can raise the levels. I know that smoking will increase the levels. Is there anything else?

Re: Chemo with no node involvement

Hi Brocken - I had my resection at the end of December with no involvement with 20 lymph nodes taken. Everyone, including my surgeon, was surprised that the pathology showed the tumor to be malignant as it tested benign from the colonoscopy. The surgeon sent me to the oncologist, with a "warnin...

Re: CT Scan results

Yes, I still have my gallbladder. My appendix was taken during my surgery, but not the gallbladder. But, I did have an ultrasound before surgery of the pelvis to look at the gallbladder and it was "unremarkable", I think that was the term. I am concerned about this "abcess" on th...

CT Scan results

Hi - I am fairly new to this board and have a question regarding CT Scan with contrast. I had a right hemicolectomy in December with no involvement with lymph nodes with a cancerous tumor removed during surgery and no chemo after. I have been experiencing pain, more like discomfort than pain, in the...

Re: How many of us are there?

Thanks, Jaynee for your response. I did have a CT Scan of the abdomen after surgery only because my incision got infected and I ended up back in the hospital. That was clear. As far as the no chemo, it was actually the other way around. My surgeon said that the oncologist would probably suggest some...

Re: How many of us are there?

I am a new member, as of Dec., 2011. My Nov. colonoscopy showed a polyp too large to be removed during colonoscopy and was scheduled for surgery on Dec. 19, 2011. During surgery (right hemicolectomy) a 4.2 cm tumor in the cecum and about 10 inches of the colon was removed. Pathology showed the tumor...

No Chemo after surgery

Hi - I recently had a right hemicolectomy. The large polyp that was removed was malignant and I was diagnosed as Stage 2A. The tissue surrounding the polyp, 20 lymph nodes, and the upper and lower intestine that were taken out all tested and no other cancer was found. Both my surgeon and oncologist ...
