Re: Bone mets spread from appendix cancer?

Thank you Kathryn and Janklo. It was unexpected since I was told my cancer doesn't travel through the blood, but it grows 'on' things. However, it has clearly got to my spine somehow. Kathryn - how did you get on with Zaltrap? I'm on Avastin at the moment and midway through my treatment things are t...

Bone mets spread from appendix cancer?

Hi, I wonder if anyone has any ideas on how I can deal with my situation? I have moderately differentiated mucinous adenocarcinoma of the appendix. I've received palliative chemo - Oxaliplatin and Capecitebine from March - August 2011, had debulking surgery and HIPEC at The Christie in Manchester, U...

Re: You can survive stage 4 ,cancer free

Hi Scott, So pleased to hear that you're a survivor! I'm stage IV adenocarcinoma, but have been refused HIPEC. You mentioned you have had 5 surgeries, and I wondered what the three non-HIPEC ones were? Do you think that HIPEC is what has saved you? What chemo did you receive? Poppy

Re: mucinous adenocarcinom appendix

It is a very upsetting and worrying time when someone in your family becomes ill. is there anyone else that you can talk to in Croatia - perhaps a nurse at the hospital? Is there any support for people and families facing cancer? I'm afraid I don't know enough about HIPEC surgery to advise you and r...

Re: Appendix Cancer -Mucinous Adenocarcinoma

Hi, I also have stage IV mucinous adenocarcinoma eminating from the appendix (found in January 2011), but have been told by the surgeon at Basingstoke, UK that it is inoperable due to the type of cancer. I received 8 cycles of oxaliplatin and capecitebine which held the cancer stable. There is also ...

Re: mucinous adenocarcinom appendix

Hi again, I'm 49 and I'm quite well in myself apart from the cancer! Perhaps you need to see the results of the chemotherapy before you think about surgery? Is he scheduled to have 8 cycles altogether? I'm glad that your father is feeling well at the moment. The chemo is tough and gets progressively...

Re: mucinous adenocarcinom appendix

Hi, it is a scary time - but it will help your dad if you can think clearly and support him, as he will be frightened too. You mentioned that your dad was going to be offered chemo - has he started on this yet? As far as I understand, with micinous adenocarcinoma they treat it like bowel cancer with...

Re: mucinous adenocarcinom appendix

Hi, I was diagnosed with mucinous adenocarcinoma of the appendix following a hysterectomy operation (I'm 49) in January 2011. Unfortunately, I have stage IV cancer as it has spread to my colon and my peritoneum. I requested HIPEC treatment at Basingstoke in the UK, but was refused it and told that f...
