Re: Lung specialist at MSK or MDA? Advice, please.

Have you had your Tumor Mutation Burden tested? I won't go into the whole story here but I am MSS also and because I had my tumor tested at Foundation One they also determined my Tumor Mutation Burden. I had 12 mutations which was a lot for an MSS tumor. So because of that my oncologist got permissi...

Re: Bayer found guilty on Roundup

As a lawyer (for 22 years) I have to agree with UTwo. Juries find what they want to find. "Get the bad guy" often trumps rational logical consideration of facts presented. It is actually quite common. Jury decisions are generally not decisive or instructive.

Re: Bayer found guilty on Roundup

Ahhh...read the Forbes article...it looks like the "studies" proving the link to cancer may be very flawed.

KCT: I am so happy to read that Dr. VanDeusen is working with your Mom and that she has a treatment plan. Obviously, no one can say what treatments will or wont work for any given person....but because the FDA and insurance companies basically made a determination that immunotherapies did NOT work f...

Rickimaroo: So sorry that you are in this situation. I don't have a lot of advice as my cancer was located only in my liver and lungs but I wanted to correct your idea that immunotherapy is a last resort treatment. Immunotherapy actually opens the doors to allow your own immune system to find and de...

It sounds like you have been a good friend to Robin...sensitive to her needs and knowing when to let her have her privacy. I pray that she has a peaceful life and that she knows how much you care about her. Thank you for letting us know about her. Cynthia

Re: smallest tumors that turned up on your PET, PET/CT or PET/MRI ??

I had "dozens and dozens" of tiny sub centimeter tumors throughout my liver that never showed up on any of my CT scans and were only found when my MD Anderson liver surgeon opened me up to do a liver resection and found them all. My liver resection was terminated...he told me that there wa...

Re: para-aortic node surgeon rec at MSK??

Dr. Bernard Park (thoracic surgeon at MSK) removed 3 of mine. They were tucked behind a lobe of my right lung which he had to remove to remove the nodes....but my local cancer center said there was no surgery option...wanted to radiate. I am happy that Dr. Park was willing to do surgery. Though I wi...

Re: 10 Years Today!

Thank you Amy. You were one of the first people who gave me hope when I first showed up here 7 1/2 years ago. You gave me so much hope and inspiration back then. We were both Moms with young children...and you told me to look for and keep a list of survival stories for encouragement. I still have th...

Re: Another NED question: PUMP v. NO PUMP?

I think something to remember is that a lot of the people who had pumps were people who were not resectable initially. Many of these patients were the harder cases that were told that surgery wasn't an option and that they would be on chemo for life. So many of these people (like me) would not be he...

Re: Liver mets: ablation vs. surgery, pros? cons?

Surgery is the gold standard. The best chance for a possible cure is with resection. But if that is not possible, ablation has been producing excellent results.

Re: Just how bad is it?

You know my story by now. But I had dozens and dozens of tiny tumors throughout every lobe of my liver that could not be seen on CT scan in addition to tumors on every lobe of my liver that were visible on CT Scan.

Re: The pump

I had pump placement and resection of colon only (not liver) because I requested that...saying that I was hoping the pump would make my liver resectable and then the colon would be done. Dr. Patty at MSK did that for me. Six months later I had iri (Irreversible electropution--Dr. Solomon) to one met...
