Re: Milk Thistle

Thank you for your replies! I talked to the pharmacist about possible drug interactions and she mentioned a slight one with simvastatine. Are any of you also on this drug or a cholesterol medication? Did your doctor mention any possible interactions? I want to talk to the doctor about his thoughts o...

Milk Thistle

I've been researching Milk Thistle for liver health. I'd love to hear from those of you who are actually using it. In what form do you take it - tea, pill...How often do you take it? How did you determine dosage? How long have you taken it? Anything that you can share would be helpful. Thanks!

Re: Felt like a experiemental monkey today

I'm glad to hear that they could help you in Florence, SC. Were you at McLeod? I didn't realize they worked with anything other than chemotherapy there. How did you find them?

Cold Sensitivity

How long did you have cold sensitivity after finishing chemo treatments? My dad finished his FolFox treatments in June 2012. He still is very sensitive to cold - whether it is going in the fridge or going outside on a chilly day. He's wondering how long this will last.

Re: Daughters and Sons of CC Parents

This has been hard for my brother and myself as well. We both developed different stress related illnesses that require medication. I wish that I knew how to cope with the situation better. I know that worry doesn't change anything. I know that we must take things day by day. It is just so hard to m...

Re: Please help with CEA question?

We have the same questions about CEA. My dad's CEA has risen during chemo. It has now leveled off, and we are anticipating a fall after chemo. His onc. has told us that the treatment can cause it to rise. Right now, we are waiting and praying that the rise doesn't indicate something serious.

Re: Is 8 sessions of folfox sufficient for stage 3

My dad just finished his 8th session, but he is scheduled for 12. He has tolerated the chemo rather well. He has the fatigue. His CEA did rise. However, it's on the way down, we think. Everyone was expecting the worst. He seems to be more active, and we are all happy about that. So, is 8 sessions su...

Re: New here...Stage 4 Colon Cancer...my Dad...

My dad (age 66) was diagnosed as a stage 3b in December 2011. He's had the sinus issues, hoarseness, and allergy problems for several years now. He hasn't had those issues while on Folfox this allergy season, and he's not taking the usual sinus medicines. I know how tough it is watching your father ...

Re: Passing gas after surgery

My dad was in the hospital for 14 days after surgery. He developed an ileus that lasted for a while. It was an exercise in patience for all of us, but everyone wanted him to be well when he finally went home.

Re: Passing gas after surgery

You should share any symptoms like this with your doctor. My dad had the painful cramping. They took X-rays to make sure it wasn't anything else like kinks in the bowel. It turned out to be trapped gas. They gave him medicine for that.

I know how you feel. Best wishes for a quick recovery.

Re: CEA fluctuations

I understand that CEA sometimes/oftentimes/most times??? goes up during treatment. What's been your experience? Does it level off once treatment has finished?
