Re: Time for hospice

My husband spent a couple of months having Hospice care at home. Hospice care can bring such support (I am thankful for the Hospice care my husband received), but not all Hospice's are equipped the same. For some of us, the majority of care falls upon the family members. What I learned is to ask for...

Re: NEW THREAD FOR LOVED ONES LEFT BEHIND ONGOING

RE:" "I don't date widows" Vickitwo, perhaps your potential date's reluctance is because he feels he cannot live up to the expectations of a person (the "widow") who herself has managed to maintain a marriage through the hardships of a serious situation (in this case, cancer...

Re: NEW THREAD FOR LOVED ONES LEFT BEHIND ONGOING

WifeofMike, such a heartwarming send off, I'm so happy for you and your family that you found the right time and right way to do so. Now your husband is mingling in the same Pacific Ocean as mine is, and I hope you have the same peace that I have about such a wondrous final resting place in nature.

Re: Why I stopped posting

General thoughts about forums: There are the school-yard-type-bullies on most forums, some more than others. In a different forum (not here!), I had an early experience with a long-time-poster to that site. I think she just felt overpowered by her illness, and decided that maybe she could be top-dog...

Re: NEW THREAD FOR LOVED ONES LEFT BEHIND ONGOING

Val Pal, you hit it about the loneliness. I was just thinking about the reminders that happen, that aren't even conscious, but none the less a void. My husband used to open our garage for me if I was headed home. Now that little reminder of someone else caring to help is gone. Sometimes I'd go to em...

Mich, I don't think there is a way to extract out just LA folks on this thread, but maybe start a new thread with a very specific subject? Good luck.

Re: NEW THREAD FOR LOVED ONES LEFT BEHIND ONGOING

It's been about a year since my husband died. The shock of him being gone is over. But the deep sadness remains, like a well I've fallen into. I can see light from an outside source, so the well is not totally black. But it is dark. And deep. And cold. And add a dose of boring. You know, I did not t...

Re: I did a bad thing Perhaps

[RE: I was very unhappy, when my PN, PA, started by telling me, "Well let's see how fat you are". I am 5/10 and weigh 162 pounds. NORMAL] Although they did not do a very good job at it, maybe they were trying to be encouraging. As we all know, advanced cancer can lead to drastic weight los...

You have my sympathy and understanding. May you find moments of peace and gentle memories that grow more frequent in the weeks and months to come.

Re: Wives of husbands with Stage IV Colon Freaking Cancer

Hi. I don't check in much anymore, I find it like diving into a too cold pool. But I often think of all the wives and caretakers that are out there doing their daily tasks of showing love. Huggs to you all.

Today I was curled up on my couch watching mind-numbing TV, in what has become an all-to-common activity, when it suddenly dawned on me that there was no longer someone who would ask me "what's wrong?". My usual old-self was usually doing something around the house, and always giving a hel...

Re: How much do you share on Facebook?

It is really pretty simple. The patient gets to make the decision on what is shared with others, without question and pressure by any other person. The patient gets to make the decision on how information is relayed, without question and pressure by any other person. The patient gets to make the dec...

Re: NEW THREAD FOR LOVED ONES LEFT BEHIND ONGOING

Hello Friends. I've caught up on the past few pages of posts, and see so much of myself in your posts about your own experiences. It strikes as so true the remembrances of the bad last few days of our loved ones, and the experiences that cannot be expressed to others. My heart goes out to all of you...
