Become a really good reader. Ask questions. Get and save records. Be your own patient manager. Ask even the stupidest questions and do not believe all you are told.

Re: mCRC STAGE IV OR RECURRENT PATIENTS thread - ONGOING

Just an update and a postive note. I had reocurring colon cancer April,14. Then I was told lymph with 4 tumor sites (2 aortic) with maybe 2 yrs plus at most with only chemo. Now after rounds of nasty chemo and 6 surgeries (4 were really repairing what the 1st and 5 surgeries did), I am now NED. It w...

Re: Ostomies: fact or fiction? (changed from colostomies)

My dr put the supportedly "temporary" ileostomy in the middle of a deep crease right by my belly button and where my pants fit. The bag goes down my leg when I sit or stand because I am so short. Because of thedeep crease, it leaks all the time. Cannot keep it sealed no matter how much pas...

Re: Biopsy - Metastatic Colon Cancer back after 5 year Clean

Hug!!! I went almost 3 years and got clobbered with Stage 4. Now I am cancer free after a year of pure torture and still facing more surgery and Ostomy probably. I had a PET scan last week and just expected to get "zonked" again but didn't. It's like Russian roulette with this stuff. You c...

Re: My oncologist has cancer

Doctor are just like the rest of us. My OBGYN scheduled my 1st colonoscopy but hasn't had one himself. I fuss at him every year becuase he still hasn't had one after I was dx almost 4 years ago from that 1st colonoscopy and he is no spring chicken.

anastomotic leak

I had 2 surgeries so far to remove a 3 cm tumor from in front of my tail bone. The 1st surgery was just to "look" to see if everything was ok since I have had a lot of ab surgeries Surgeon said "not problem". 2nd surgery - suppose to be robotic but woke up with holes and about a ...

Re: ileostomy fatigue

I have had blood test from all of the drs. Some low iron but most ok. I saw a nurse yesterday after another round of blood work and she put me back on all my meds and then mega B12 that the drs had told me not to take. She also gave me a list of over the counter to help me sleep and told me hormones...

Re: ileostomy fatigue

Thanks Peanut. The surgeon put the thing right in the crease of my stomack where my pants band go so even the wound care people said it was awful. A 4" circle of skin (ileostomy) is red and blistered but I just deal with it. My surgical site is completely healed. I can just barely walk around t...

ileostomy fatigue

I had a tumor removal from in front of my tailbone. Was supposed to be robotic with no problem. Well I woke up with a large ab wound site and an ileostomy. My problem is that that was done April 17th and I still can hardly walk across the floor to the bathroom. I cannot seem to get over being so fat...

I am there now and it is so hard. My neighbor is even worse than me so I try to be strong but sometime you are just beaten down by the simple everday things. Hugs to you. Hang in there and know that you are not alone

Re: After the oxaliplatin..

Sorry you are here but stay positive! I did Oxi, adastin and 5FU taking pump home for 2 more days. The Oxi was terrible. I went every 2 weeks and I had maybe 2 or 3 good days out of 2 weeks and then would have to start it again. Fatigue, etc. Bathroom runs vs laxative. BUT, I was given no hope excep...

Re: Lymph Node Mets only question

I had one on the right and one on the left side of the Aortic. After months of Oxi, Advastin and 5 FU every 2 weeks, my tumors were gone. I started out with 4 altogether and was told no surgery with maybe 2 1/2 years of life left at most. Now my tumors are gone except for one left on the very low en...

Re: Another Newbie

The meds given during surgery or demo do not help with the bathroom problem. Some meds "bind" you up such as pain meds, etc as well as not eating or drinking prior to surgery. Ask your dr if you can take stool softners, etc. The 1st hip replacement I did not know to ask. Trust me, when I h...
