Re: CONTRAST AGENT CAT SCAN SIDE EFFECT

Hubby had an allergic reaction to either the barium or the contrast (or both?). He had fever and chills along with general "not feeling well". Now he gets pre-med Benadryl. Seems to have done the trick for him.

Re: New to the forum - nervous about oxiloplatin

This is what we found helped my husband. He took 11 treatments of oxaliplatin. Be aggressive and pro-active with the anti nausea drugs. Take IV Emend and Zofran with the infusion along with steriods - then post infusion cycle down with zofran, compazine and phenergan by mouth as needed. Keep gloves ...

Erbitux Rash Product Recommendations ?

My husband's CT scan last week showed rapid progression of disease everywhere so his next poison chemotherapy cocktail will be the Erbitux with CPT-11 combo. I have read a lot of posts about the "RASH". Sounds pretty horrific. So I would like to ask for any recommendations for products or ...

Re: Wives of husbands with Stage IV Colon Freaking Cancer

I was so surprised to read these posts. My husband has had a problem with an abcessed tooth since he was on oxaliplatin. Just keeping it under control with antibiotics and pain meds until his next treatment break. I did not realize that was another problem to add to the list. Thanks so much for the ...

Re: daddy will start chemo, I am a little bit concerned!

I am so sorry about your father. I know it is terrifying for a loved one to start chemotherapy. I would recommend good communications with his physician and being proactive with medications for managment of his symptoms. Especially for nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. There are some really good drugs ...

Re: Cea Level Is Up What Does It Mean?

Hi From what I understand CEA levels are a protein molecule unique to each individual and used as one of the markers by the oncologist for progression of the disease during treatment. My husband started around 260. When down to 14 with 8 rounds of oxaliplatin. Went up during maintenance into the 100...

Husband is on his 26th chemotherapy treatment, which consists of an outpatient infusion along with ambulatory bag for 46 hours. Every single time he has his treatment as wife, nurse and main caregiver, I get sick t...
