Re: Anybody ever tried heat?

Hi Lori I have had a few treatments in Germany using Hyperthermia where they heat up the body to 41.5degrees Celcius and then administer chemo. The concept is that the chemo is more effective against cancer cells when heat is applied. Also, if enough heat is applied and a fever is achieved over a pe...

Feedback on Hyperthermia

Hi All

After 2 cycles of hyperthermia in Germany, it appears that my tumour markers are heading south. Here's hoping!

Re: Medical/lab records that YOU keep a copy of

I get disk copies of all scans as well including PET scans. The imaging centre is responsible for this and should give you a copy. 10minutes after finishing the PET the centre burnt a copy to CD for me to take home. There are some very cool graphics on it and you can look at 3D images from all angles.

Definition of recurrence?

Hi All Just out of interest, what is the exact definition of recurrence in your minds? I guess one has to get to a state of NED first. If tumours start to increase in size again after being reduced (but not totally gone), is this recurrence? Or is that classed as still being in initial treatment? Th...

37, diagnosed this year, fit, healthy, good diet, very active, always have been, no family history. Onc said the tumour has probably been growing for 8 years. Brushed off 4 times from doctors "You are too young for that, probably just a hemorrhoid and maybe minor IBS". My best doctor advic...

Re: Cea Level Is Up What Does It Mean?

Murray can you expand on the use of LDH w CEA and CA 19 pls? Frances, LDH is not specific to or even necessarily related to colon cancer. There has been some studies showing correlations for prognostic information in operable colorectal cancer, however it is not something that is generally used. ht...

Re: Cea Level Is Up What Does It Mean?

Livelife what is CA 19.9 ?? I don't think I have seen this before. CA19.9 is a carbohydrate antigen that can be expressed by carcinomas of the gastro tract. It is probably most commonly found in pancreatic cancers but can be used to monitor cancer activity for CRC. Normal levels are below 37U/ml It...

Whats the go with weight loss?

Hi Everyone I am 8 months along in this game (hmm... weird game really) and still don't have a good handle on weight loss regarding cancer and/or chemo. I was 92kgs (203lbs, 6'4'' tall) and have been for 15years. 3 months before dx I was steadily losing weight. In fact, a few weeks after dx, I botto...
