13 years cancer free

I have been cancer free for 13 years. I did decide to get a colostomy because of so many accidents I have below. I could not enjoy life. It's been a year since my colostomy and I can go and do anything I want now. I take a shower every day I replace my bag every day. I remove my bag before I shower ...

Re: Help! Surgery Monday! What is this surgery?

I would go with a LAR if possible. They will remove the rectum and part of the sigmoid colon but on later date they will connect you back.

Brown bagger and I join almost at the same time in 2009. He was a real nice guy. I was sad for him when he found out that he stage 4 instead of stage 2. Rest In Peace.

Re: T3N0M0 Rectal Cancer- refuse surgery?

I have never met any one that has pass 5 years with the watch and wait method. Surgery is the only way to cut out the cancer from your body.

Re: T3N0M0 Rectal Cancer- refuse surgery?

Why do people start this threads? Do you want to hear that is fine to avoid surgery from us? My doctor told me "it will kill you" that's all I needed to hear. Going on to 8 years NED.

Re: New to forum, rectal cancer, must make surgery choice -- help!

Bowel surgery is not something to be played around with. Once they perform surgery on you, I guarantee that you will not want to live very long because of the deleterious effects of that kind of surgery on your quality of life. Find a third option. I don't often get angry when I see a post, but Tra...

Re: New to forum, rectal cancer, must make surgery choice -- help!

It's not fair to say that because you chose TEM and had a recurrence that it is necessarily a bad option. I also chose that option in 2007 and have been cancer free ever since. The only person who can make the choice is the patient him/herself. What was right/wrong for any one patient isn't necessa...

Re: Stage 1 to 4

Sorry to hear that it came back. Your doctors should have have giving you chemo in the beginning and then after but there is no use in looking back now you must get ready to fight again. Good luck.

5 years ago today I had my surgery

5 years ago today I had my surgery to remove my cancer and a second chance at life. I want to thank my wife for helping me during my darkest time in my life by taking me to all my doctor appointments and encourage me to fight on. I want to thank my surgeon Dr. Theodoros Voloyiannis who performed the...

Just make pink for all cancers and have October the month of cancer awareness. It should be about all the cancers not just a few.
