Re: How can I help my family watch me die?

Wow, what an amazing spirit you have! You sound like an incredible person to me. All I know is from my personal experience - and yes, at the time I was have done anything to not face it - but looking back as my wife was in hospice, it was a privilege to care for her. I was there for her, and I bet y...

Re: NEW THREAD FOR LOVED ONES LEFT BEHIND ONGOING

I think 'moving forward' is great, but don't rush it. Whatever pace you go is fine. I still cry over my Angie for any or no reason and it's been over four years. Didn't know Frenchie, but I'd bet he'd have liked you wrapping that shirt around you. You're going to be ok. It may not feel like it all t...

Re: Caregivers

Being frustrated is normal. In fact, ANY way you feel at any time is normal, since it's you. And it's ok to be frustrated, or mad, or sad. You need to feel whatever and do whatever you need to handle things. And I know it's hard, since you have no time, but try to make a little time for yourself, ma...

Re: NEW THREAD FOR LOVED ONES LEFT BEHIND ONGOING

Hello Everyone, This January 26th will be two years since my wife Angie passed away. I think of her every day. I do have an overwhelming sense of gratitude that I was able to meet her, that of all the people in the world she loved me, that I loved her, that we have 3 beautiful kids who seem healthy ...

Re: Recently Diagnosed at 23

Hi Abby, Welcome to the club nobody want to be in. Haven't posted in a long time but was moved by your situation. Don't get sucked into all the analysis and charts you'll see on the internet, it'll be discouraging. Yes, it's serious, but just remember you're not a statistic, you're a person. There a...

Angie's gone

My lovely wife of 21 years passed away Jan. 26th. Pretty much the last two years of my life have been like a bad dream - but one of the bright spots has been the people on this forum. Lots of good info, lots of nice folks. I'm dropping off, don't have the heart to keep coming back. Maybe that'll cha...

Talking to kids on hospice

We're going to try regorafenib, but wife is really weak, having lot of pain, I told her I'm fine if she doesn't want to do it, onc has mentioned hospice, think he's trying to get her ready. Got 3 kids, 16, 14, and 13 - any thoughts on best way to tell them? I was thinking to just be truthful, put it...

Re: Looking g for question to ask

Bev's response was full of wisdom - definitely slow down, I'm into my second year and still looking things up. Usually the doc's are great at explaining - I say something like "I don't understand 'poorly differentiated' " and they'll cover it for you. Please understand everyone's response ...

Re: Husband just DX stage 4

Hi Patty, I'm been reading posts off this board for about 1 1/2 years, and like you, I still can't believe it's happening to us. Married 21 years this past August. You'll learn all the acronyms in time (I still have to look some up) as well as more biology and chemistry than you ever wanted. As a ca...

Re: Final Regorafenib update

Sorry to hear that.

We're just starting FOLFIRINOX as a second line treatment - so it's 5FU, irinotecan, oxaliplatin, etc. Seems to be having some effect (wife coughing less, we've had growth in the lungs)

Re: Traveling, vacationing while on chemo?

We just planned ahead, worked with onc on big trips (Costa rica - white water rafting, zip lining (but wife did get piece of finger chewed off!), hiking, etc.) On smaller ones (to beach in FL) just went on off chemo weeks - wife slept while I drove.

Re: Normal CEA and Liver tests, Disease Progression

pog 451 is right, quite possible for CEA to not show progression. Or to have elevated CEA and no progression. So our onc follows it, but it's not a smoking gun, when he wants evidence it's a radiological scan.
Sorry to hear about the progression, we're dealing with that also.
