Re: Ileostomy Partial Blockage

Last time it was 10 hours before anything started to move. Things didn't "suddenly" start to move but over a little time. Cramping begins to quit but still takes awhile. If I was getting absolutely nothing out, I wouldn't wait days to head to the hospiatl but that's not your problem I see.

Re: Ileostomy Partial Blockage

My episodes used to last about 5 hours but now they are longer. The last one was probably 10 hours before it worked itself out. It was horrible but did end eventually. I thought that I would be dehydrated but wasn't. I still asked for rehydration iv mainly to make my hospital stay worthwhile. My doct...

Re: Ileostomy Partial Blockage

This is one of my greatest fears. The pain is horrendous. I have had a number of blockages and went to the hospital only the last time because of major vomiting. Now if my abdomen starts to hurt in any way, I start massaging it and trying hot pads. I also stop eating and drink hot fluids. I recently...

Re: I was on the news!

Great Job! Hopefully the message gets through that this isn't just an "old-person's" disease.

New screening test

Today on the front page of our newspaper is an article about a simple urine test that replaces the fecal blood screening test for colon cancer. It's supposed to be ready by the end of 2012. It was developed by the University of Alberta Hospital. Not sure of the ramifications but they predict earlier...

Re: Calling ALL Colorectal CANUCKS !

I couldn't find any place in Canada that I could ask for Regorafanib expanded access. Anyone heard if we're getting a site?

Re: Canada - chemo drugs not covered by OHIP ?

Check out our "Canuck" thread. But I suspect it's Xeloda that's not being covered. That's because it's a pill and only some provinces cover it.

Re: Calling ALL Colorectal CANUCKS !

No, I'm in Alberta so Xeloda is paid for. I did send off an email asking for statistical support so we'll see what that gets me.

Re: Calling ALL Colorectal CANUCKS !

It's a good suggestion to ask them for statistics to back them up. I'll think I'll do it.

Re: Calling ALL Colorectal CANUCKS !

Yes, I did have irinotecan in March 2011 and June 2011 (a break due to a trip). I had progression in July 2011 so I was taken off the iri.

Re: Calling ALL Colorectal CANUCKS !

So I had 3 radiation treatments on 3 bone mets, finishing yesterday. It was a little rough at times but already my leg pain has really decreased. My issue this time is that my onc has refused to give me Xeloda. She said she doesn't think it will help. I said I don't know how she can make that statem...

Re: Calling ALL Colorectal CANUCKS !

I found information on the cyberknife treatment in Hamilton: http://www.jcc.hhsc.ca/body.cfm?id=301 and click on CyberKnife patient referrals. Of my 3 bone mets, only 1 is on the spine so I guess I'm not eligible for this but maybe someone else might be. I am going to print it out for my radiologist...
