Re: PET results- not good

With my brain as scattered as it is, it's amazing the MRI came back clean. I SHOULD have titled this thread "Biopsy results- not good", because that's what I meant. They took a biopsy from my neck (which currently hurts like a blue motherf#cker, whatever that is, seemed apt) and THAT'S how...

PET results- not good

Well, I got my results and they suck. The cancer is back (if it ever actually left) in the lymph nodes in my chest and neck and possibly in the manubrium and several vertebrae. Stage IV for me. Dr. McG says cure is no longer very likely, we will probably be dealing with it as a more "chronic&qu...

Re: well, crap

Okay, that was fast. I'm having my biopsy done tomorrow morning. The radiology dude called while I was in w/the nephrologist and in the confusion I forgot to ask how soon I'd get the results. So I'm still a little up in the air about that. I've been noticing a sort of tickle and tightness in my ches...

well, crap

This morning I went out of my way to sleep late, so I wouldn't be fussing about how early is too early to call the onc. So I woke up at 11am (the Ativan helped) and called her office right away. Her personal secretary, Mary, said she couldn't come to the phone at the moment but would make sure she g...

Re: 72 Year Old Mom is starting Chemo and need some advice pls!

Hey Dan, Of course your mom is worth it, and it sounds like she raised a wonderful son. But enough mushy stuff, right? On to your questions! -Nausea: this will depend on how prone your mom is to it. For me, I'm especially sensitive so I was miserable my first round because I didn't know then, what I...

Re: for Bill5107

Bill, I, myself, was never more depressed than immediately after my surgery. If you look back to my first post ("everything looks great so why can't I stop crying?"), I was in a very similar place as you are now. My prognosis was good, my pathology sucked (I think it was 28 lymph nodes inv...

Re: well... wish me luck!

Rachel, I'm not sure if it's kidneys or bowel w/the whole fluid issue. The onc kinda went back and forth between referring me to a GI doc or a kidney doc. She finally settled on kidneys because she feels that my not retaining the liquid and my lack of peeing sounded to her more like kidneys. She sai...

Re: Somewhat O/T, freaked out about going to a funeral tomorrow

For what it's worth, Jess, I don't think it's fair to you to say you gave her "false hope". You just gave her hope, and that is a precious thing. Just because she passed makes it no less precious. You weren't a doctor telling her "you still can beat this thing" as she got weaker....

You, are one amazing dude. I would say I can't believe how quickly you've bounced back, but the truth is I'm not surprised at all. That's just you, you're awesome! Nonetheless, I'm still greatly relieved to here all went well and you're on the road to recovery. Keep us updated when you can and like ...

Re: well... wish me luck!

And as long as no one's offended by raunchy humor I'll continue the funny old lady story... you've been warned! :D After the CT and the burning vagina craziness, they flushed her IV, and apparently she could taste the saline. She suddenly burst out, "Oooooh! Now it tastes like someone came in m...

Re: well... wish me luck!

No no! I totally get that! One time there was a little old lady who couldn't hear them warn her about that "hot feeling" down there. So they were just like, "Well, she'll figure it out." The next thing I hear she's shouting, "Oooooh! My VAGINA'S on FIRE! Ooooh my!" F#ck...

Re: well... wish me luck!

Thank you guys, for all the support. I really , REALLY appreciate it. Unfortunately, the news isn't really very clear cut. The liver and lungs are clean (yay!), but there are three slightly enlarged lymph nodes in my chest that are up for debate (boooo :( ). My onc says she feels confidant it's prob...
