Re: Mom’s bag won’t stop leaking

I reinforce the sides of my Hollister 3326 one piece bag with plastic tape from 3M company. In the month I have been doing that no leaks have occurred.

Re: Phuong is the new ColonClub President !

When I first developed rectal cancer, my anxiety led me to read the new posts on this website every day,and to post frequently also. I remember your posts along with others, including STARBUCKS and BROWNBAGGER. Unfortunately, most of them are now deceased. Good luck on your new assignment and contin...

Re: I've graduated!

CONGRATULATIONS for being willing to make an unorthodox decision which oncologists did not like. When I was diagnosed I was so scared that I was willing to do anything an oncologist suggested, even it was yodeling in a steam room. A few years after treatment was complete, I was less anxious and came...

Re: LAR syndrome sufferers -- beware of sucralose/Splenda

I have eliminated all the artificial sweeteners and now use plain sugar (sucrose) only. Also, I have eliminated olive oil which would cause uncontrollable diarrhea and many embarrassing moments. Unfortunately, it took me a few years before I realized it was the cause of my severe problem.

Re: Review of my Journey so far -> ⓊⓟⒹⒶⓉⒺ March 23/2019

I joined in April 2010 and for 5+ years I consulted this site almost daily, and occasionally posted. The active members here at that time are mostly gone; either cured or no longer alive. I remember them fondly- Brownbagger, Starbucks, numerous others. I still check this site every few months, and o...

Re: Lingering Diarrhea?

I had rectal surgery 9+ years ago, and still get occasional diarrhea. Although it has improved over the years, my bowel movements never returned to normal. By manipulating my diet and taking some OTC medications occasionally, things are sufficiently under control to lead a 'near normal' life.

RESTRICTIONS ON IMMODIUM SALE

The N.Y.Times had an article that I recently read indicating that the FDA is considering restrictions on Immodium. The reason is that addicts may use this drug when their preferred illegal opiate drug (heroin, etc.) is not available. This is a HORRIBLE idea for patients that depend on Immodium to co...

DARK CHOCOLATE EFFECTIVE FOR DIARRHEA

A long-term after-effect of rectal surgery was diarrhea about every 10 days; sometimes urgent. I have been trying dark chocolate in recent weeks, and find that the diarrhea has stopped. There are a number of articles on internet sites (Medscape, etc.) indicating that dark chocolate (I use 90% dark) ...

I have been taking 81mg pill since 2010, but include one TUMS calcium tablet which may be protecting me from having stomach bleeding.

Re: Bev G

She had been Stage4 for many years and I assumed she had been "cured". This reminds me of BROWNBAGGER who also had been Stage4 for many years. Both were regulars on this site and posted messages almost every day, including answering some of my inquiries. It feels to me like losing good fri...

Re: STAGE 3 rectal cancer treatment without surgery

I didn’t know about the study. I would love to read it if you could point the way. I couldn’t agree with you more about the QOL issue post LAR. I told my oncologist I would have easily taken what time I had left presurgery than multiple years in my current state. I’ve realized modern medicine is ab...

Re: STAGE 3 rectal cancer treatment without surgery

Someone on the MEDIVISOR health website informed me that Memorial Hospital in NYC now does Stage 3 rectal cancer treatment WITHOUT doing surgery in some cases. For someone investigating current treatment options for their Stage 3 cancer, this seems worth investigating further. Unfortunately, I do no...

STAGE 3 rectal cancer treatment without surgery

I read a summary of an article in a Japanese Oncology journal which indicated that surgery for rectal cancer is rare in Japan because the effect upon future quality of life is severe. They use radiation and chemotherapy only, and get good long-term results. My quality of life since rectal surgery in...

Re: CBD OIL

I tried 1000mg HEMP OIL (Manitoba) one morning and developed loose stools which kept me running to the bathroom for the remainder of the day. I may try it once more to see if this is my normal reaction to hemp. Nonetheless, when pot becomes legal in New York, which is supposed to be in about 2 month...
