Re: Chemo has stopped working

I'm so sorry to hear this Ashlee. You are one of the toughest people I know in this battle. You've been through so much. I completely understand your decision though. I think I'd do the same as you if I were in your situation. Enjoy the time you have which I feel will be longer than the doc expects....

Re: New Year's Eve poll

I'd like for my mom to be able to go back home. She's been living with me/taking care of me for over a year now. I want my health to improve so she can go home. She retired August 2012 and a few days after was out here with me and has been here ever since. She needs to go home and be with my dad. It...

Re: Metastasis to the Peritoneal Cavity

Hi! I'm so glad your husband was accepted to do HIPEC!! I had it done twice. I had liver involvement the second time around. They did a full hysterectomy, took my appendix out and a wedge of my liver. It was a bit harder the second time around but I am cancer free now as far as I know. Now I'm deali...

Anyone ever have gastric tube?

I might be getting one tomorrow and scared. I've been in hospital since 7/31 for many issues mainly adhesions causing blockages. I've had NG tube since then and doc thought gastric tube would make my life easier I think. It would be used for drainage of gastric juices (like NG tube). He wants to get...

Re: Ileus and abdominal infection

Thank you guys for your responses. :) I'm still here in the hospital  so,,,we were going to do surgery to clean up adhesions that keep causing my obstructions... But both the surgeon and I agreed I should give it one more shot at eating and seeing how my bowel reacts-if it cramps up and interc...

Re: bowel adhesions after colon resection?

Hi! I am sorry about your mom. I am actually going through the same thing right now. Been in the hospital going on 4 weeks. I think what your mom's doc says is probably true-adhesions or scar tissue. More likely than a tumor I would think anyways. I had the same problem...cramping in my bowels and a...

Ileus and abdominal infection

Hi all-it's been a while since I've posted but think about you all and check in every day. Just some background...I had HIPEC in december 2011, which was a success but in march mets were found in my vaginal canal...so I had a radical hysterectomy with partial vaginectomy and they removed my rectum t...

Re: please help considering HIPEC with Dr. Esquivel

Hi! I have had HIPEC twice, but not with that particular doctor. I had it with Dr. Nabil Wasif at Mayo Clinic in Arizona. He is not a well known surgeon in this field, but I felt confident in him. He is known for being an excellent surgeon in general here. And I have been pleased with him. I used hi...

Re: HIPEC interview on KPBS

Hey Jennifer! I am glad to hear you are out of the hospital and doing well. I am sorry you had that blockage and had to go in! Sounds like quite a journey with the hallucinations and all that! I know it's scary-the possibilities of obstructions. I feel the same too. I forget-do you have an ostomy? I...

Wow-that is awesome!! So happy to hear this! :D It is wonderful the systemic chemo is having an effect on the peritoneal mets. I hear it is hard to do that. And now she can hopefully have HIPEC! How wonderful!! Thanks so much for sharing. Please keep us updated, and let us know if you get a HIPEC da...

Re: New Colostomy-post HIPEC

Steph, it's good to hear from you and glad you're doing better. wow! that sounds like quite the surgery. My understanding was that liver involvement rules out HIPEC so was pleasantly surprised to read about your combo liver resection/HIPEC. Where did you have your surgery done? who was your surgeon...

Re: breaking her out today

I'm so glad to hear your mom is going home and doing better! I do hope she can do her Disney trip. I can totally relate. I have been trying to take a vacation to Disneyworld the past year and a half. Made plans to go in December (paid flight and hotel stay/tickets), and couldn't due to surgery...and...
