Bitterness Towards My Late Mother

Words cannot describe how close I was to my mom. She was our glue that held everyone and everything together. I have had such a hard time without her. Oddly enough however I feel myself getting angry towards her at times for dying. Just three or four years ago her doctor recommended a colonoscopy ju...

Six Months Gone

I can't believe this week that mom has been gone 6 months. It has really be a stressful and an emotional time period as well. Trying to readjust to life without a loved one is so difficult. I visit the board daily hoping to see some good news and to keep up with most of your updates. I am saddened t...

A Beautiful Memorial

Image

I just wanted to share this with all of you since it just came in today. A beautiful monument for a now beautiful, glorified saint.

Re: Swollen Abdomen

My mom developed ascites the last few weeks of her life. Your friend's swollen abdomen is due to this fluid build up. I can tell you that once ascites develops it is a sign that end stage colon cancer has begun and death is near. She needs to have this fluid drained so she can feel more comfortable ...

A NOT So Happy Birthday

Tomorrow, June 14, is the first time I will not hear my mom wish me a happy birthday or give me a card or a big birthday hug. There will be no going out to dinner to celebrate. This birthday will hardly be happy.

Re: Just when I think cancer can't surprise me anymore....

It is not an ounce easier on adult children either. I was 26 when mom was diagnosed and I just shut down. I did not receive any counseling though I should have. God is all that kept me stable. Mom was never really worried about herself, just me.

Ways To Honor Mom's Name

I hope you're all doing well. I was thinking of ways I could honor Mom's name in the future. I have already made wristbands with her name on them. We plan to form a team and walk in the benefit races in Knoxville. Any other ideas, maybe as it relates to colon cancer specifically?

Do Not Destroy Hope

I do not think any of us should ever destroy someone's hope on here. Most people are well aware of their odds and of the statistics but want some type of hope that they will beat this disease or at best live with it chronically. No one knows what God will do. People on here have children and spouses...

Thinking Of You All Daily

I just want to let you guys know I think about you daily. This is still my club and you all are my friends of whom I have great desire that you beat this disease, for your own sake and for the sake of my mom. Any defeat of this illness makes me smile. Keep fighting and keep praying and just know tha...

One Month

May the 7th marks one month since my mom took her last breath. It still hurts so much. I do have good days, and actually mostly good, but I have my moments when I feel like I'm getting knocked off my feet. It is hard to express how much I loved/love her. I visit her gravesite as often as possible. L...
