Bad scan - mass at right ovary

Hello, My mom had a CT scan last week and was called back for an pelvic ultrasound. We saw her oncologist yesterday and apparently there is a 5cm mass in/near the right ovary. (I don't have the reports so I can't be more specific.) My mom had finished Folfox6 Sept, 2009. Her doc can't say if it's a ...

Re: spot on kidney

Thanks CRGuy!

SkiFletch: The balance thing is bothering my mom a bit and the numbness
in her feet is definitely not helping her mobility. Hopefully it'll improve.

Cheers.

Re: spot on kidney

Hello, We were at the oncologist's office to review the results of my mom's latest scans and they think the spot on the kidney is a (complex?) cyst. They will just watch it. Also, my mom's been having some balance problems since chemo and some recent headaches. The doc ordered a brain MRI and that c...

Re: Finally Checked Out My CT Images

Wow...you guys sure are having fun. :) I've never seen my mom's MRI and CT scans. Maybe I should try to get a CD of those some time. Years ago I did have a brain MRI and it looked remarkably empty, though not nearly as bad as this: http://www.simpsonstrivia.com.ar/wallpapers/homer-simpson-wallpaper-...

Re: questions about vitamin D

Hi Starbuck,

You should ask your oncologist for a recommendation, especially since
you're still on chemo.

FWIW, my mom is post chemo and her oncologist recommended 1000 IU of D3 and
one baby aspirin (81mg?) a day.

Cheers.

Re: what % is most normally took out at liver resection??

It seems you can resect quite a large portion of the liver and have good regeneration
afterward:

Re: here we go- round 6, take 2

Hey Starbuck,

FWIW, my mom developed a funny sensation in her throat during her chemo
which actually caused some difficulty in swallowing. An endoscopy was done
and it was all clear. Eventually her swallowing returned to normal a few
months after her chemo.

Best of luck with the CT.

Cheers.

Re: spot on kidney

Hi,

An update: Apparently the ultrasound didn't show much
so my mom's oncologist is ordering another CT to look at
the region again and try to get a better look.

So the waiting and anxiety continues... :(

Thanks.

Re: spot on kidney

Hi, Thanks for all your replies. I guess I'll just have to wait for the results and try my best to not freak out until then. Praying for some good news... CRGuy: The fake lake is apparently at the media centre 'off-site' in a building at the CNE so I'll probably not make a visit. I do work across th...

spot on kidney

My mom's recent CT scan picked up a spot on a kidney. She had
an abdominal ultrasound today which also showed a spot. Her
oncologist probably won't get for a week.

Naturally I'm very worried about this. Has anyone had a similar
experience which turned out to be benign?

Thanks.

Re: Risk calculator reveals surprising results.

For those interested, here's the article describing the calculator: http://jco.ascopubs.org/cgi/content/full/26/3/380 A couple things came to mind: 1) This is data from 1990 to 2000, so this is before FOLFOX. The results now are likely better. 2) My understanding is that node-negative patients were ...
