Re: Post-surgery (APR) numbness

Reporting out after my original post about a year and a half ago. Perineal numbness has plateaud - it slowly got better in the months after surgery, but has plateau. I just accept it now. But frankly, it's no big deal. As far as sexual functioning, I need to rely on the little blue pill. Not preferr...

Re: how long for neuropathy

Finished oxi in December 2010 with numbness in my feet, which has gotten slowly better over the past year and half. Today, my feet still feel numb, but only from time to time. For the most part I don't notice. It's worst after exercising (running, cycling).

Re: Possible taboo subject ? Advice please ?

By no means a taboo subject. I had an APR in June 2010, finished treatment in 2010, and am still dealing with/figuring out issues. For me, it hasn't been the chemo, but the consequences of having had an APR. The numbness in my perineal region appears to be permanent, and I'm finding I have to rely o...

Re: really? accidents after 14 months

For what it's worth, to follow-up on Mark's comments ... If anyone who is having bowel problems after a resection, and is considering a permanent colostomy, it's not all that bad. Okay, yes,, it's a permanent colostomy, which sucks royally no matter how you view it, but if you have the option to irr...

Re: Mercer Island Run - Washington State

Belle,

Turns out I'm in already in Seattle that weekend. I'm going to do my best to make it and participate in the 5K Get Your Rear In Gear Run. Let me know where you'll be volunteering once you find out, and maybe we can meet up!

Re: how long for neuropathy

Finished up Oxi on 12/7/10. Neuropathy showed up in my feet *after* stopping the oxi. The numbness in my fingertips, which was never severe, just "there", is just now starting to go away, but it's still fairly pronounced in my feet. It's nothing that effects my daily activities, just feels...

Re: So, I gained 20 pounds since starting Folfox...

Before FOLFOX I was down 20 pounds from my pre-diagnosis weight due to pre-surgery exercise regiment and surgery recovery. I pretty much put all that weight back on during adjucant chemo (Xeloda/Oxyalplatin). I had all my healthy food rules, but pretty much broke them all - didn't want all the fruit...

Re: Xelox / Xeloda Thread

I'm finishing up round 2 of 6 adjuvant FOLFOX cycles. I have my oxy infusions on Friday, and my doctor doesn't place the prescription for the Xeloda until my infusion visit and they check my bloodwork. I get my Xeloda from the Walgreen's Special Pharmacy, which they have to ship to me, so I don't st...

Post-surgery (APR) numbness

Hey everyone, I had an APR three months ago, on June 2nd, and I've been experiencing numbness in the perineal area from pretty much front to back since surgery. A lot of my friends in the medical field, including my urologist say that it can take up to six months to a year for post-surgery numbness ...
