Re: Any Stage IV currently in NEDville? Please share any advice or tips? P

There are likely lots more Stage IV survivors who just don't frequent the forum anymore. I used to be hear every day, but my husband's cancer and treatments have been over for 8 plus years. Life goes on and things get busy. We meet lots of cancer survivors in everyday life as well. Keep the faith, e...

Re: Fasting During Chemo

I have been following this fasting topic for a while, and it certainly seems like there could be something too it. I'm the caregiver for a long term colon cancer survivor (who's out walking several miles per day and back to normal except for some annoying neuropathy) and am interested in the topic f...

7 year anniversary

On 11/5/2009 my husband had an emergency appendectomy and Stage 3 Colon cancer was discovered. He went through chemo which he finished in June of 2010. He's been clear since then. I don't post here much anymore, but I just wanted all of you to know that there is hope. Hugs to all of you who are goin...

Re: Just starting the fight

My husband was diagnosed at Stage 3 in November of 2009. Going through chemo was no picnic, but there are good memories from that time as well as the bad. Since the time of his surgery, he's been NED and life after the 6 months or so of chemo has gone pretty much back to normal. Sending positive tho...

I'm glad she could get you in so soon. Try not to worry. There are a lot of reasons for blood that aren't cancer. But with your family history it's good to have it checked. I'll keep positive thoughts headed your way.

Re: Six Years

What a beautiful family! Back in 2009 and 2010, you and my husband were about a week apart in chemo sessions. And you're both still here and kickin a**! I remember you onc had a hard time keeping you off the ski slopes in between chemo treatments. Glad all of that is behind you now! Hugs to you, Kel...

Re: No chemo for me again this week

I remember several times when my husband's chemo was delayed, especially toward the end of his treatments. He got injections several times for low white count, I forget what the name was. I was sometimes surprised how quickly they bounced back. He never had any bad reactions to them. His were also d...

Re: This is all new to me

Brent, I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis and it really does suck! My husband was diagnosed just a little over 6 years ago with stage IIIb colon cancer. It was discovered during an emergency appendectomy and removed with the appendix. On New Year's Day he was going through his second chemo treat...

Re: For Stage III's: NED for how long now?

My husband has been NED since Dec. 2009. He's out walking for an hour at least every other day. Life is back to pretty much normal. I saw this quote on Facebook that kind of sums it all up: Maybe life isn’t about avoiding the bruises. Maybe it’s about collecting the scars to prove we showed up for it.

Re: I'm new and concerned I may have Colon Cancer. Can you help?

My husband was diagnosed with colon cancer more than 5-1/2 years ago. He is fine now and there are many days I don't think about colon cancer and he doesn't either. He was stage 3B and went through resection and 6 months of chemo. He has been NED since his surgery. I just want you to know that there...

Re: 5 years NED, now what?

Congrats on the 5 years, Bob! You can breathe a little easier now.

My husband just had his 5 year clear visit and scan in January. He will probably go back for blood work and CEA yearly now but won't have scans as long as everything else looks ok.
