Re: Very sore feet

When I was taking Xeloda my oncologist gave me Udderly Smooth Udder Cream for my hands and feet. I also like Bath & Body Works' Lay It On Thick, makes your feet feel really smooth. Hope your daughter finds some relief soon, it hurts, I know.

Re: What to do with radiation burns

Ask the doctor to write a prescription for Biafine. It works wonders on radiation burns.

Re: Does this referral make sense

A few months ago I had a spot show up in my left lung in a PET scan and my oncologist was pretty sure it was a met. He sent me over to a thoracic surgeon who before the surgery wanted me to 1. have a test for lung function/capacity and 2. a CT scan to give her a better idea where the spot was. So yo...

Re: Mom in hospital, near the end and so angry

Hi Worrieddaughter, I'm sorry you have to go through this, I know it's not easy. Both my parents died of cancer and both had personality changes towards the end. There is a little book that our Hospice nurse left for us to read, it's called Gone From My Sight The Dying Experience by Barbara Karnes. ...

Re: Should be happy so why am I not?

I know exactly how you feel. Last summer after I finished chemo I sat around depressed and wondering why I wasn't excited and happy to be finished with everything. Then in October things got better overnight it seemed. It was like someone pulled this dark dreary blanket off of me. I think what it wa...

Re: Anyone NOT have Adjuvant Chemo after Liver Resection?

I did not have chemo immediately after my liver resection, but it was not by choice. I had a low platelet issue that prohibited it. In my case, I developed mets to the lungs 6 months later. Had I had a choice I was fully ready to do the chemo after the liver resection. Everybody is different, you h...

Re: Anyone NOT have Adjuvant Chemo after Liver Resection?

Were I in your shoes, I'd probably push for the Xeloda, but that's just me. The choice of course is yours :) I'm leaning towards it! Even if the Xeloda is not much more than a Placebo to make me think I'm fighting this, lol. I had my mind so made up to jump into this again and give it all I've got ...

Re: Anyone NOT have Adjuvant Chemo after Liver Resection?

Penny Xeloda is the pill form of 5FU which has been the mainstay of colon cancer chemo for many years. Its side effects are minimal compared to the much harsher Oxaliplaten. It is used after surgery to mop up any stray cancer cells that may still be circulating, so they don't get a chance to settle...

Re: Anyone NOT have Adjuvant Chemo after Liver Resection?

Penny, Never had a liver resection so can't give you any advice. But, I do have a question. Why isn't Xeloda alone better than doing nothing??? I don't get it with what your onc is talking about. Doesn't make sense to me. I'd clarify that one. BTW - you didn't say but what did the pathology on the ...

Re: Anyone NOT have Adjuvant Chemo after Liver Resection?

I can't help with the chemo and resection thing but from looking at your signature it doesn't look like you've tried Irinotecan yet have you? Also, are KRas wild or mutant? If your wild you could also do Erbitux and the other one that starts with a V. I'm sorry it wasn't the news you wanted to hear...

Anyone NOT have Adjuvant Chemo after Liver Resection?

Hello Everyone, My mind is just swirling tonight from my Oncologist's appointment today. So I hope I can make sense typing this. My last visit (month and a half ago) to the Oncologist I found out I had a spot on my liver. I was told to see my surgeon to have it removed and after that come back and w...

Re: Liver resection AUGUST 9TH HELP!

Hi Stillhere, I just had a liver resection on Fri. June 18th. Had to be at the hospital at 4:30am to have an injection for a PET scan which I had before surgery. Surgery was about 7:30am and was out around noon. Spent a short time in recovery, then had another PET scan and on to my room where I slep...

Thanks for the info.!
Terry

OSU is in Columbus, OH. It's pretty much smack dab in the center of Ohio and around 2 - 2 1/2 hours south west of Cleveland. I'm sure there would be a direct flight into Columbus though.

Good luck! Hope one of the places can help.
