Re: Early age onset colorectal cancer survey: Your responses needed!

Hi Chris. I noticed in your signature that you had a false negative colonoscopy before finally being diagnosed. That also happened to me at age 48, already had symptoms and then did not get diagnosed until age 53. My 5 cm tumor was also 2 cm from anal verge. Anyway, I wonder if location plays a part...

Re: SWF, so many uncertainties NOW!!!!

Hi Eleda, Sorry you’re having to go through this but glad you have your treatment plan in place and are seeking support. I just wanted to let you know my tumor was as low as yours, a 5 cm tumor so fairly large. My surgeon recommended the temporary ileostomy to me and I followed his advice. I did end...

Re: Reoccuring Digestive issues

Has he had a CT scan while he is having the symptoms? It sure sounds like he is having bowel obstructions, those are the symptoms. The pain comes in waves, often across the diaphragm area. Does he have BMs during these episodes?

NHMike, you are right it’s more satisfying years out especially since we’re not looking at anything! From your signature, looks like things are going well. Hang in there!

Re: Bowel "Urgency" - help!

Susie, I am really glad you got things figured out and Lee, as well. I know other people who are very happy with quality of life after going for a permanent colostomy. And for some of us, the enema is effective. We all need to find the best solutions for ourselves. Before finally accepting the daily...

Re: For Stage III's: NED for how long now?

Hi all! I was Stage IIIB rectal cancer and am now over 6 years out from surgery in which I had a complete pathological response to the chemoradiation. It has been a fabulous yet at times trying 6 years with reversal, then surgery for a bowel obstruction, then bone marrow biopsy for wonky blood count...

Re: Bowel "Urgency" - help!

Hi, I’m just chiming in here as another enema user. I never would have imagined this process would become a part of my daily life but I have now been an almost daily enema user for five years. It gives me the freedom to live my life without bathroom worries, no need for depends and I can eat almost ...

Re: BrownBagger ....... I don't know what to say

I, like everyone else have been so sad about BBs passing. He had great threads going when I joined in 2011, and his humor was one of the first things that grabbed me. I know people often don't want to be called an inspiration but that's what he was, so many treatments and all of those miles on his b...

Parents who have lost children to CRC

Hi all, I am writing on behalf of a family that recently lost their 23 year old son/brother to colon cancer. As you can imagine, they are struggling. I will always remember the people on here who were in the same situation like Janklo, exaussie and chixter. I asked the mother if she wanted me to try...

Re: Surgery tomorrow and white count

Sorry to read you're having a rough time. When you start trying to reintroduce foods, even liquids, go extremely slow, a bite or 2, then walk, repeat. If you start burping or hiccuping, quit eating. I know it's hard but you will get through this. Take care.

Re: Defecography for LAR syndrome

Chrisca, maybe I've mentioned this before but looking at your signature I am amazed by the similarities of our stories. Here's mine, a little different but still..false neg colonoscopy, age 48, rectal cancer diagnosis, age 53, large tumor 2 cm from anal verge, stage 3B, same treatment, and then the ...
