Re: Seen in a signature on another forum...

I know what you mean. I actually had someone say to me that I must have had some bad karma. Some people are just stupid and really don't know what to say to people. We did not choose to have cancer - when we cut someone off in the parking lot, yelled at our kid, said a cuss word, or said something m...

Re: Seen in a signature on another forum...

I swear that positive thinking is what helped save me from colon cancer. I could have chosen to just lay around and be sick and give up, but I didn't. I realize Folfox 4 and great doctors did the majority of the work, but a positive attitude goes a long way.

Re: Question about Oxi

I was told to not drink, but at the Ravens home opener in 2007 I decided to have 2 beers - 30 minutes later I was puking my guts up. But that is just me...

Re: Numbing before the needle

They used to spray my port area with this stuff that was really cold and it was supposed to help. I did not notice any difference so I just told them not to do that anymore. A friend who had a port for breast cancer was given some sort of cream to put on her port an hour before going in for chemo tr...

Re: To tell the kids or not?

I did not tell my children until after I had all the information and had a chance to digest it all. I had no idea I had cancer when I ended up in the emergency room one early Sunday morning. I honestly thought it was my appendix. Two weeks later I was finally released from the hospital with 1/3 of m...

Re: Clothing Suggestions for Chemo Port, FOLFOX?

I am not a guy, but when I had my port I would not tuck my shirts in so that the tubes could just run down the inside of my shirt to the pump. I did not want the tubes on the outside of my shirt because I am an assistant principal at an elementary school and did not want to scare the kids off. As fa...

Re: what are the odds of getting cancer?

Don't know much about odds...but as far as cancer goes they have all been against me! First colon cancer, then 2 years later breast cancer. This coming April it will be 2 years since my breast cancer diagnosis...hoping the "every 2 years" thing isn't a trend. Pretty sure my emotional state...

Suzie - can you post a picture of the bracelet? Until I saw it at the Colondar Reunion, I had no idea what it looked like - now that I have seen it I am saving up to buy it!!!

Re: 3 Year Cancer-versary

Thank you everyone! I truly feel like my life is a miracle. When I became friends with Shawn Felty (Mr. May 2010) after his shoot (he only lived 45 minutes from me) he inspired me with his tenacity and humor despite his struggles. The last time I saw him was in a hospital bed in Georgetown and less ...
