Re: Black

I hated chemo...loathed it. I was super anxious throughout the infusion and was very ill...unable to take my head off the pillow ill for the first 3-4 days. I couldn't sleep due to the steroids and didn't have an iPad or smart phone to distract me. TV or movies didn't interest me either. Friends and...

Re: Beansmama is gone.

Thank you for letting us know Tracy. I can't believe she's gone....so very sad. I thought she was doing better but the surgery must have really taken its toll. She went through so much and just seemed to take it all in her stride, with courage and strength. Such a very special person. She will be mi...

Re: chemo - no side effects yet

That's great! I would start to feel "off" usually on the way home from chemo. The next morning, I would feel nauseous (nausea set in overnight) and would continue until I got my 5FU disconnected. The nausea and general yuckiness was quite severe. I would then start to feel better once I wa...

Re: Hate prepping and now They found a poylop!

This is the reason you need to have a colonoscopy every year - to check and remove any polyps. With Lynch, polyps generally grow quicker, and so the risk for colon cancer increases, hence the need for yearly colonoscopies. It is more than likely benign. Try not to stress while waiting for your resul...

Re: New and husband just diagnosed

Hello, Sorry to hear about your husband but you have found a good support place here! I know only too well how scary a cancer diagnoses can be. I know it's hard but try not to google too much. I researched and googled a lot initially, but it only heightened my anxiety. I feel that the doctor had no ...

Re: New, anxious and seeking opinions

Ok....you need to STOP googling....it will only heighten your anxiety. "No use worrying until you have something to worry about" is what a wise friend once told me. Hang in there, get the colonoscopy and until then, don't let it consume you. It's really not worth it. You can do this.

Re: Asking questions before diagnosis?

The oncologist sounds like he probably specializes in blood cancers such as leukemia etc. Don't expect him to diagnose him or not with colon cancer without a colonoscopy. Good idea to write down all your questions and write notes to give an accurate and thorough account of your husbands symptoms. Yo...

Re: Asking questions before diagnosis?

When people have unexplained anemia, colon cancer is sometimes suspected. However, your husband has had severe rectal bleeding. That could be the cause. When I had a CT scan, the tumor in my colon showed up. Your husband has a lot of symptoms, related and unrelated to colorectal cancer. I had no sym...

Re: Prepopik - colonoscopy prep

I have had quite a few colonoscopies over the last eight years and the prep gets harder for me to tolerate. Just thinking about it now makes me shudder :) I get so nauseous that it is almost impossible to keep it down and even drink it in the first place. I feel so sick that I'm unable to drink othe...

Re: PREP GETS HARDER TO TOLERATE

Thanks to everyone for your replies. I will definitely be looking at a different prep next time. My GI said that I could take tablets next time but still need to drink plenty of fluids. Might be easier though as I can't stand the taste of picoprep - just the thought of it makes me shudder :) I haven...

Re: PREP GETS HARDER TO TOLERATE

I had 4 sachets (4 glasses) of picoprep and one litre of colonlytely to drink - ugh so ghastly. I tried to make it less by making it more concentrated. Only managed half a glass and most of the litre. I think drinking on an empty stomach doesn't help. Now I think I hate anything lemon flavored haha....
