Re: Clear colonoscopy but still have blood and mucus in stool

I can't tell from your note, did you have a recent colonoscopy or not? You said you got an order for a colonoscopy, but it doesn't sound like the GI doctor did one. If not, and if I were you, I would push for a colonoscopy. It's been 6 years since you had one (2011), so it's not like you had a clear...

Re: Stage I folks - Do you have an oncologist?

I have stage I colon cancer. My surgery was about a month ago. I also pursued an oncologist relationship at the same time as setting up surgical appts., so at this point I'll be followed by the oncologist. She is doing bloodwork at 3 mos and I will have a colonoscopy at 6 mos (which was recommended ...

Re: Just diagnosed- surgery questions

Hi, I just underwent surgery a few weeks ago. My GI referred me to a general surgeon, and I wasn't totally comfortable with that, but decided to go see him to try to get information, and as a practice run for asking questions, etc. I really felt I wanted a colorectal specialist. It turned out I like...

Re: Should I be tested for Lynch Syndrome

Well, I'm looking at my pathology report and it doesn't look like they tested the tumor for mutations or microsatellite instability. I wonder why they would not have done that. I know my surgeon didn't consider me particularly young at 46 to have this cancer, maybe that's the reason. I went to one o...

Should I be tested for Lynch Syndrome

Hi, I just wondered what people's thoughts are on being tested for Lynch Syndrome. I was diagnosed at 46 with Stage I colon cancer in sigmoid and had partial colectomy. Need to decide on Lynch testing. I don't have a large family history, and most of them have died young from other causes. The testi...

Re: Anyone Have A Sigmoid Colectomy? Please Share Here.

Hi, I had my sigmoid colectomy 25 days ago on 8/31/11. First, let me say that each of us are different and many factors can effect each person's experience. That being said, I'll share mine which has fortunately been a good one. My tumor was a little smaller than yours, a little under 3 cm. It was l...
