Re: 43 Year Old Wife Diagnosed with Rectal Cancer. I'm very scared.

I was in the same terrified state in October of 2009.
Still here. Cancer free.

Re: Sorry I haven't been supportive of my cc friends

After my 3rd obstruction I demanded a surgeon go in and clean things up...that was a year ago. No problems since....eating whatever I want. Feel your pain, Not much compares to the misery of s small bowel obstruction!

Re: Ready to quit :(

I was same stage and shortened my treatment after thorough research in every data base I could into...the small advantage of short term survival in 2009 was only 14% over skipping treatment...no improvement in long term survival. I stopped everything and went on a health kick....still taking many su...

Re: Radiation and chemo for stage 2 rectal cancer

I had same stage..T3 tumor. I had radiation and took xeloda for 4 months.
I have recently had issues from radiation enteritis and bowel obstruction...requiring surgery. But I have been cancer free for 5 years. I have no regrets:)

Re: Lysis of adhesions next week?

I had lysis of adhesions 2 weeks ago after my third SBO in 6 months. They were able to get the job done with the laparscope so my recovery was short (has surgery on a Wednesday and went back to work the following Monday).
Hope that helps:)

Oh Brother!:(

Haven't posted in a LONG time. Lots of new faces here. Just thought I would share that my brother was just diagnosed with rectal cancer...in the same exact place my tumor was found! He is the same age I was when I was diagnosed! Kicker here is that I was tested for Lynch and came up negative. Anyone...

Re: DON'T WANT TO DO OXALIPLATIN !!!!

I opted out of Folfox and just took Xeloda. I work with my hands and I run too. No regrets...4 years later: NED.
Best wishes,
Kim

Re: T3cN2a, refusing chemotherapy?

I don't see that Folfox outweighs the risk of disabling side effects in most cases. I opted out...but I was stage 2, with worrisome prognostic factors. I feel that an intact immune system is essential for cure. Chemo weakens the immune system. Whatever you decide...wrap your heart around it...no reg...

I would consider this a good scan. You are STABLE OFF CHEMO...and that is fantastic in my opinion:) Your body is figuring things out.

Re: Clustering - Tips Please

Lomotil....one in the morning would hold me til lunch...then another after lunch and I was good til after 5. Lomotil worked better for me than Immodium...and is cheaper. I would get 90 for 4 dollars. Took a Lomotil today...and I am 3.5 years post resection. I still cluster at least once a week. Used...

Re: Sort of O/T - stupid people in our provider's office

As a care provider and owner of a medical office I will try and explain just how confusing things can get from our end. There are MANY different forms of insurance: HMO's, PPO's, commercial plans, personal plans, catastrophic plans, Medicaid (in my state 3 separate companies manage Medicaid), Medica...
