CEA Rising but still in normal range UPDATE

My wife saw her onc today for her 6 month visit, and the onc said all blood work was fine, including the CEA which was 2.2 Now that is not a high number, but I have heard that it is the upwards trend that should be concerning My wife was shocked that it went up again, but the onc gave the usual spee...

Scan Question

My wife had her yearly scan to be done earlier this month. This time the scan requisition was given by her surgeon. Usually it was her onc who does it, but this time the surgeon did it. When she went for the CT scan, she found out that it was only for her abdomen and pelvis area. The surgeon did not...

Re: Stage 2: To Chemo or not to Chemo, additional informati

I know for the 2b patient (as my wife was) having a T4 tumour is a high risk factor, and oxi was definitely recommended by the onc, but the 2a patients there were also getting oxi, even though they had no high risk factors...this from talking with them in the "chemo lounge" This is in Cana...

Struggling with daily bowel movements

Just wondering if anyone else has issues with bowel movements. My wife finished her chemo in November of 2011, and since then has had on and off again issues with her bowel movements. It always seems that she struggles to have a bowel movement. She now takes stool softeners as well as something (lac...

Re: When does ned start ?

I have wondered that as well and asked around
Some have said from the day of surgery, and some have said from when the last treatment is done...so if you had chemo, it would be from the last chemo session

Not sure which if any are correct

Re: Questions about tx for my dad

My wife had the same diagnosis as your dad stage 2b, and she was given 12 rounds of folfox via picc line going to hospital every 2 weeks, having the chemo, then going home the same day with a pump which continued infusing for 46 more hours...then that would be removed by a nurse who came to the hous...

Re: Question about scan frequency - is my Onc wrong?

Hi Bussman My wifes line reads almost the same as yours...T4 but no tumour deposits, so she is staged 2b her last CT scan was Dec 2012, and the onc now has her on yearly scans instead of every 6 months Her timeline is almost as yours, just a few months later than yours...resection was April 2011 We ...

Re: I got bad news today.. not good

Sorry about the news, but hopefully it is not related to the CC Before my wife was diagnosed with cc, she also had a brain tumour, and it was much bigger than your lesion when we saw the neurosurgeon, after the MRI he said it was a menengioma (sp) and those are usually benign, and he said many peopl...

Re: Poll - neuropathy *after* chemo?

You are staged exactly as my wife was She finished her chemo in Nov 2011, and took 12 treatments of folfox, and the last 2 the oxilaplatin was reduced by 50% Now almost 16 months later, she still has the neuropathy in her feet...not debilitating, but annoying, especially first thing in the morning I...

Re: Colon Cancer, stage 2

a T4 tumour extends all the way through the last layer of the colon, which is the serosa a T3 tumour does not extend quite as far but still all the way through the muscle layer to the serosa, which is the last layer of the colon so a T4 tumour extends further through and has increased chance of spre...
