Re: Police Officer/Deputy Sheriff with ostomy?

Hi stikman, I'm not sure if there are any police officers on this site, or maybe they are enjoying the holiday weekend, and will post next week. There is a wonderful website, UOAA.org that has a wealth of information on ostomies. There is a man on there who is a PA state trooper with an ileostomy. H...

Re: Low rectal tumor surgical options - LAR vs. APR

Welcome to the Colon Club! Yes, you sure do have a hard decision to make. Is your surgeon in Portland a board certified colorectal surgeon? If not, I would highly recommend getting another opinion from one locally. I had a tumor that was invading the anal sphincters and the muscles and fat in the ar...

Re: Skin Splits

I used the bag balm on my hands and feet during chemo and found it helped alot. I aslo used Neutrogena Norwegian Formula hand cream, and still do. Supposedly just a dab heals dry, cracked skin, but I put on alot and it all sinks in. If I use it regularly, especially in the winter, I don't have a pro...

Re: Dealing with Survivors Guilt

Marianthy, I am so sorry to hear about your sister's passing. My deepest sympathy to you and your family. I can relate to the survivor's guilt. I still have those feelings, but not as often or as strong as they were before. I was going through my rectal cancer treatment when my brother passed from s...

Re: How old are you?

Older than dirt, my kids can't believe some of the things I tell them about my childhood. My parents used rabbit ears till a few years ago!!! The party line was always interesting, gossipy neighbors on there all the time. Anybody remember "ice cubes" - chocolate square candy, I really miss...

Oh thank goodness this round was less eventfull than the others. I admire your courage and determination to finish the chemo regimen despite all the problems you've had so far. Keep your eye on the finish line!! 4 to go, yippee!!

Re: HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!

Thank you, I had a fairly quiet St. Valentine's Day. We renewed our marriage vows at church today, made me cry. My husband got me a dozen red roses :) and made us his awesome omelette creation for brunch. I made a pork roast with roasted potatoes, carrots, and onions for dinner. Yumm!! Oh, and I got...
