12 Year Anniversary

I don't visit that often anymore. But I'm still interested in everyone's journey. Hard to believe that at this time 12 years ago I was languishing in the hospital following APR surgery. Two internal abscesses, one by my appendix and one by sacrum. Ileus was a big problem. Couldn't even look at food....

Re: Cancers Appearing in Ways Never Before Seen After COVID Vaccinations: Dr. Harvey Risch

I flat out don't believe anything written in The EPOCH Times. It is right wing media disinformation. Dr. Harvey Risch has gone on record: Harvey Risch @DrHarveyRisch I DID NOT SAY "there will soon be billions of people with cancers from the Covid vaccines." The Epoch Times has promoted an ...

Follow Up

Well, I thought I was just going to have a Left total hip surgery. No problem. But then I was so nauseous after that surgery they did a CT with contrast of my belly. By my signature you can see that I had colostomy 11 years ago. 2 parastomal hernia repairs over the years and the hernia was back agai...

Re: 10 years NED and released by my oncologist today.

I was told by ONC that for rectal ca, they followed for 10 years. That was OK with me. To all who asked about neuropathy in my feet: Still take gabapentin...don't really know if it works or not. Still have problem toes. Worst is at night when my toes feel like they are buzzing. I found that using As...

Re: For stage 2's Ned for how long?

Thought I'd stop by and add my 2-cents worth. 10 years NED. Lost my dear husband 5 years ago, and my mother 1 year ago so now it's just me and my little dog. Grateful for all the years we had and even grateful for all the not-so-nice treatments that I had. Peripheral neuropathy is still an issue for...

Re: Scary times . . .

I'm thinking of all of you during this time. All of you still in treatment, caring for a family member in treatment, and/or coping with young children at home...AND particularly and of you who are healthcare workers. I haven't been on this site for a long time...probably since my own health stabiliz...

Re: Looking for Stage II Updates for Colon Cancer Peeps

I was Stage 2A rectal cancer diagnosed in 2011. Mine was ultra low so following chemo-rad, with 50% shrinkage of 4cm tumor I had abdominoperineal surgery with perm colostomy. I did adjuvant chemo to try to improve on the recurrence rate. So far all good. Only regret was that I didn't stop adj. chemo...

To All

My best wishes to all of you out there currently in treatment or just starting the journey. I don't come back too often to post since I'm 5 year out now and so far NED. But the sad news is that my dear husband, Mike, of 16 years was diagnosed last December with esophageal squamous cell cancer, Stage...

Re: Carcinogens

There are lifestyle/occupational/environmental/viral carcinogens, i.e. asbestos, benzene, HPV, etc. Every study that I see recently lists preventable risk factors for cancer (excluding hereditary factors) in this order: obesity, exercise, red meat, smoking, alcohol. Everything in moderation, I say w...

Re: My kids' father has Stage IV thyroid cancer

If you are on reasonably good terms with your ex, I would encourage you to tell him to have another consult with a major cancer center....in my area that would be Mayo Clinic. Stage IV Thyroid cancer unless it is medullary cell type which is more aggressive or anaplastic.....does not generally have ...

Re: Neuropathy after chemo

Same here. I finished 11/12 chemo - FOLFOX6. I had no symptoms until treatment 10, when my feet suddenly lost all sensation on the bottom sole of foot. Unfortunately, I was in the shower and I fell hard, gave myself a huge hematoma on by flank. Reduced oxaliplatin for tx 11 and only 5FU for last tx ...

Re: question about low wbc/neutropenia

I've had experience with low blood counts also from adjuvant chemo that I had in 2012. The counts that the ONC was most concerned with are: Platelets - 150,000 is low end of normal range.....but if it dips to 100,000 they may give a chemo break Absolute Neutrophil Count (ANC) - This is an overall co...
