Re: Xeloda users and hand/foot suffering (Celebrex relief)

That would be nice if it INCREASED the effectiveness! Eve,.....also, have your father ask the doctor to sign a temporary handicapped parking application (bring it with you to his next appointment). Have him keep his hands and feet elevated as much as possible (when sleeping and watching TV) to elimi...

Re: Xeloda users and hand/foot suffering (Celebrex relief)

Eve, I severely underestimated the frustration and discomfort (month after month after month) that accompanies hand/foot. It's like having untreated shingles, simultaneously, on the ends of all your limbs, for 6 months. I cannot wait to finish this and get my body back!!! To answer your question, my...

Re: Xeloda users and hand/foot suffering (Celebrex relief)

Also, regarding nausea.....talk to your oncologist as they can prescribe a variety of anti nausea medications such as Ondansetron and others to help control it. You should not have to suffer with that.

Re: Xeloda users and hand/foot suffering (Celebrex relief)

I really only have 3 side effects from the Xeloda. #1) extensive hand/foot syndrome (under control now because of Celebrex); #2) fatigue and #3) a minor skin rash on the tops of my forearms. I feel as if I've had 1 Tylenol PM in me for 6 months now.....while having to work! That is it. My appetite i...

Xeloda users and hand/foot suffering (Celebrex relief)

Hi everyone,....I'm just posting to hopefully be able to provide some help to others who may be suffering from hand/foot conditions. I was first dosed with Xeloda at 4300 mg/day. However, at 1 1/2 cycles I suffered grade 2 or 3 hand/foot which required me to interrupt treatment for 5 weeks to recove...

Re: Q for Xeloda users

My foot syndrome worsened to such an extent after only 1 1/2 rounds of Xeloda that my onc stopped my treatment to let the reaction subside. The entire bottoms of both feet turned white and died. Walking was painful. I also developed a red spotted rash on both forearms above my wrists and very dry li...

Re: Is a 5 cm tumor in sigmoid colon considered large?

My tumor was 8 cm "at greatest dimension" according to my pathology report. My surgeon told me it was about the size of a medium apple....probably squished though. My surgeon and my oncologist said it was large. Here's the great parts though.........it didn't spread to any of the 50 lymph ...

Re: Dif You Gain Weight In Hospital After Sigmoid Colectomy?

I lost 22 pounds from the cleansing process, the surgery and the no food diet afterwords. I have only gained back 10 pounds and I eat generously. I suppose I probably lost about 6-8 pounds from my tumor and loosing my intestine and 50 lymph nodes as well so that has to factor in as part of the loss....

Anyone used Xclair for painful feet from Xeloda?

I believe this is a new product. The website claims, "XCLAIR® is a medical device class IIa indicated to manage and relieve the itching, burning, and pain experienced with radiation dermatitis." I did a search on colonclub and only saw two posts talking about Xclair and both dealed with ra...

Re: Stage II. Considering adding Oxaliplatin to Xeloda?

Good find. I've printed the article. Thank you. Towards the end of the article, I don't understand why it says that 80.2% with Oxi v. 78.4% without Oxi is not a significant difference in overall survival. BUT then 81.8% with oxi and 78.8% without oxi is significant. Do you see the significant differ...

Re: Stage II. Considering adding Oxaliplatin to Xeloda?

Thank you everyone. The 5-8% numbers she was indicating were NOT overall numbers and I'm not able to accuratelly convey her explanation, so let me drop that part as I don't want to post bad information. Her explanation was still in line with about a 2% increase in benefit for the oxi. I'll ask her f...

Stage II. Considering adding Oxaliplatin to Xeloda?

Hi everyone,....I haven't posted in a couple of weeks but I still return to this board several times a week to read and I think about everyone in the posts often. I have finished my first round of Xeloda (4300 mg/day) and I'm considering beginning the Oxi at the start of round 2 on 9/23. Or is it no...

Hi RayGirl,

How did you react to taking the Xeloda. In 3 days I am meeting a new oncologist for a 2nd opinion and I want to discuss Xeloda with her.

Re: After resection how long until return to work

I am still at home recovering from a left hemicolectomy (Sigmoid, 15" taken) which was done on 7/6/11.....about 5 weeks ago. My sugeron added 2 additional weeks off from work on top of what I thought would be 4 weeks off, so 6 weeks total. My surgery was on a Wed. and I was discharged on Monday...

Re: Hi - Newbie here

Wow....thank you again Jaynee! I am much more educated now because of your detailed explanations. #1 I have no problem taking pills and am very structured about taking them on time if need be....no problem. The only problem is I have a touchy stomach that can cramp up and become nauseous.....and won...
