Re: How long do you keep port in

My sister thinks having hers out would tempt fate, so she won't haves hers out, ever. But she is a verrrry hard stick.

If I ever would be eligible, I think I would get it out, tho it doesn't bother me at al. I really didnt have any problem with it being placed or used.

Re: Pain from spinal mets

Karin, Sorry to hear about your spinal mets. Your symptoms sound like a problem I've been having recently. My arms are sore from shoulder blade down to elbow...but it comes and goes. Sometimes it will be sore for days and then some times I'll go for days and it won't bother me. Once bone mets start...

Re: Pain from spinal mets

So sorry to hear about the mets, Karin. My dad's bone mets were in his humerous (no idea how that's spelled), but we used icy-hot patches to hold him over until the radiation. That and morphine. He also liked the hot water bottle a lot, that seemed to help. Sorry I don't have any more tips, but I'm...

Re: Pain from spinal mets

I won't do radiation to my spinal mets again. I'm sticking with the STAR Ablation from here on out. I'm going to use it for any bone mets that I can. I've done both radiation and RFA. There are lifetime limits to radiation, plus it causes severe fatigue and causes nausea and vomiting for me (vomiti...

Pain from spinal mets

So, I have been having left arm pain, weakness, numbness. Needing high doses of pain meds. Got my MRI this week. It is a tumor between c7 and t1, pushing on cord . Not a ruptured disc. So I have started radiation to alleviate pain. Will take two weeks roughly. In the meanwhile...stronger meds as nee...

Re: Surgery: Your kind advise would be highly appreciated...

We are not generally qualifitied to give out medical, advice. Right now, just suggest waiting for more..results ofnCT, CEA. It is the hardest.

Surgery may determine stage or may just only need CT.

Re: Need advice on stage 4 mother

I noticed that you are currently on Folfiri. How have you been responding to this? How are the side effects? Sorry I might be coming on too strong, but I'm just trying to get as much information as possible here. Going to update signature... I am off all chemo treatments... I have been thru every t...

Re: MD Anderson appt...no clinical trials recommended

Andy I assume he knows what trials are out there and eligibility requirements. My guess is the amount of lesions in my liver and lungs keeps me from being able to get any local radiation. I would pretty much need whole liver radiation, and I don't believe that is recommended, in general. I also told...

Re: Need advice on stage 4 mother

I am so sorry to hear about your mother and the difficult time she has had. Although we can not give medical advice here, I do think your plan of taking her to SloanKettering is a good one. Getting a second opinion is always a good choice. If your mom's disease is progressing that quick as it seems,...

Re: Question

I know of many folk who believe exercise reduces chance of recurrence, plus it is good for you, so by all means, keep that going. Regarding food and diet, ....over the years here at CC, some of most spirited discussions have been about diet. Restricting this or eliminating that, etc, etc. There are ...

Re: Bad PET scan - need input - Zaltrap, radiation, etc.

I did Zaltrapltrap for three cycles. While on it, I was "stable.". Taken off due th GI Bbleed. I was talking to onc at MDAnderson yesterday. The irinotecan induced diarrhea created inflammation of colon lining. One of parts of Zaltrap interferes with healing tissue...so my GI lining would ...

MD Anderson appt...no clinical trials recommended

So, I am done with treatment. He doesn't think any current phase one or two trials would benefit me, or if there is chance it might, I won't qualify due to liver damage from tumors and toxicity of chemo over last four years. I tod him I didn't want to do anything with low probability of help and hig...
