Re: Painful Colonoscopy Post Colon Resection

Many factors could have resulted in the lack of sedation. The IV might not have been in the vein, so the medication didn't get injected correctly. Every person reacts differently to medication. If I have dilaudid, it might as well be saline; the effect is the same. Perhaps you react this way to the ...

My condolences to her loved ones and my thanks for her bravery and candor in making 'our' cancer public. RIP, Farrah. You fought a valiant fight.

Re: This is reedcat:: he is home ALMOST ):

Reedcat, As a nurse myself, I can't imagine being forced away from my husband at this difficult time. Is Hospice involved in his care? They are unbelievably wonderful in dealing with difficult family dynamics. The boys certainly need an advocate to walk them thru this process with as minimal 'damage...

Even this true blue Wolverine ('75 Nursing) is excited for the Spartans! I never thought these words would pass my lips but, "Go Green! Go White!".

Re: Painful Colonoscopy Post Colon Resection

GREAT NEWS! Just got back from my yearly colonoscopy. No pain this time! The first thing my DR said this morning was, "We really had a rough time last year. We're going to do everything in our power to avoid that today." And they did! The nurse asked incredulously 3 times about the amount ...

Re: Painful Colonoscopy Post Colon Resection

I feel terrible about the worry, stress and concern this thread has caused! PLEASE don't put off getting a colonoscopy out of fear. Good doctor/client communication is key. Express your concerns to your physician and set up a 'password' in advance that means STOP! If you are lucid enough to verbaliz...

KP, It took 11 months for me to get my doctors to listen to me. I had a normal screening colonoscopy just 3 years prior to the onset of my symptoms. I couldn't even get the attention of my gynecologic oncologist! After having hemorrhoids banded and 'giving it more healing time' I had to resort to ta...

I think my crying out repeatedly would have been a clue! They told me to take deep breaths and to relax my abdomen. They did give me more meds 2-3 times. It just didn't hit me til later; I slept 5 hours after I got home. Everyone reacts differently to medications. I will just make sure they use some...

Painful Colonoscopy Post Colon Resection

I had my one year post colon resection colonoscopy yesterday. It was the most painful procedure I have ever had. They kept turning me from side to side and even had a big burly guy come in twice to push on my abdomen. The gave me more meds at least twice, but I feel like I spent the whole time screa...

It is unlikely that hemorrhoids would cause flat stools. If you are having flat stools, I recommend you discuss this with your primary care physician as soon as possible.

There is no clinical evidence to support ANY benefit to 'colon cleanses'. There are certain risks involved, however; perforation of the colon, electrolyte imbalance to name just a couple. IMHO you can save a great deal of discomfort by merely flushing your money directly down your toilet! Try googli...

I know it's extremely hard to wait, but guessing is fruitless. I had my colonoscopy on a Thursday and the diagnosis by Monday. I had a normal screening colonoscopy in April of 2003. In February of 2006 I developed rectal bleeding. I had a hard time getting doctors to think beyond that normal colonos...

Allow me to join the choir. Walk away from the computer, pick up the phone and call and make an appointment to see a DR. Every campus has health services. College students can get very inexpensive health insurance. Why would you want to take a chance with you life after all the hard work you've put ...
