Re: Has anyone gotten the swine flu vaccine yet?

I came across this article from the NY Times on the H1N1 vaccine - theres a big question and answer section that I found very informative. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/10/health/10primer.html?_r=2 For those of you on chemo who don't want to read the entire article - "Q: Is flu vaccination an ...

Re: Question - Bleeding

Well I did call and talk to the nurse at the clinic and she said that since it isn't actively bleeding I should be fine and to call if it got worse or I started having active bleeding. She said no it's not normal, but like PP said considering everything I've been through it is likely the cause. I wa...

Re: list of pink stuff

I don't know if this will make anyone feel better but my mom is a breast cancer survivor and all the pink stuff drives her crazy as well. She doesn't like being reminded about it everywhere she looks. She's a pretty private person and although she had a mastectomy and stage 3 cancer she still has so...

Question - Bleeding

So I am having an excision next week to remove a 3cm rectal polyp, it may or may not be cancer, I had 3 biopsies so far and they haven't yet shown cancer only precancerous cells so I won't know for sure until it's removed. The surgeon and all the staff are out at a conference this week or I would ha...

Clear liquids

I have to be on a clear liquid diet for 2 days before my excision next week. I had a hard enough time with one day last time. I wasn't hungry, I just wanted to chew on something and got so tired of drinking things which just made the prep that much more difficult when I had to drink a gallon of stuf...

Re: Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery (TEM)

Her bio says she is experienced in this procedure and has authored chapters and presented nationally on the subject so do I take that to mean she'd be a good one to do it? How much experience is enough experience?

What is focal high grade dysplasia?

I see the surgeon tomorrow. But I talked to my primary doc today and she gave me the results of my latest biopsy. Since this is not her expertise she could not really explain it to me. It came back as a tubular adenoma with focal high grade dysplasia. The word villous was also mentioned. The tumor i...

Re: CT question

I fogot this question....would the CT show anything in my breasts? The surgeon did a breast exam and found an area she wants examined so she wants me to get a mammogram and see a breast person, but she said that's secondary to what we are doing right now. I'm really freaked out about that...my mom h...

Re: New

Oh and I forgot my other question...the Ativan that everyone recommends...is it better than Ambien? She did give me a script for Ambien and last night I did get more sleep than I had the past 2 nights. But I still woke up in the middle of the night (my daughter was up) I did have trouble going back ...

Re: New

Mom2two, FIrst of all, PLEASE get in to see a board certified colorectal specialist. I would wonder why a general surgeon who has done two 5 year fellowships in colorectal cancer isn't board certified by now????? That would concern me and send up red flags right away. The pelvic area is a tightly c...

CT scan - question

So, my CT scan showed no signs of metastasis. However it did show an ovarian cyst and a spot on my lung that I have been told is very common and nothing to worry about since it showed no sign of metastasis. I only talked to the nurse about the CT, not the doctor, so I don't have the full report. But...

CT question

So my CT showed no signs of metastasis, but it did show I have an ovarian cyst and some spot on one of my lungs that I've been told is very common. The doc told me not to worry about it and they would just keep an eye on it. But doesn't colon cancer often metasticize to the lung and ovary? It seems ...
