Re: What's Everyone's Favorite Chemo Music?

Shawn Phillips.....hands down! I loaded all 174 Shawn Phillips songs that I had on my iPod/iPhone, and went through treatments with my earphones in. Shawn's music has gotten me through some of the toughest times in my life since 1972. He keeps me focused on what really matters and helps me see beyon...

Re: Joint Pain & Neuropathy Post Chemo

I completed 12 rounds of folfox in mid April. I had a lot of issues with neuropathy, but none so severe as the excruciating pain in my bones, from my hips all the way down my legs....(not just joints) that would just come out of nowhere. Pain meds weren't touching it...unless I eventually took enoug...

Re: Remission with stage 4 metastatic colon cancer?

I appreciate all the response, and I'm very glad that I am able to give hope to others. I spent the weekend with a friend who came up from Arkansas. We went out and spent 3 glorious days enjoying God's creation, so I haven't been online all that much. I haven't had much of a life this past year. I'm...

Remission with stage 4 metastatic colon cancer?

Okay, Beverly asked me to post my scan results today. I must say I am dumbfounded. Not only did the scan show that the adrenal anomally that the doctor had been concerned about was nothing of import, but showed there was no evidence of active cancer anywhere. The way he put it is that it's there, bu...

Re: do your pets help?

The refrigerator shots gave me a much needed laugh, thanks! They are beautiful. I always had Orange cats in the past, I love them but have 2 adopted greys now. And my brother lives for his Siamese. It really helps being greeted by them when I come home, it would be so sad and lonely if they weren't...

Re: do your pets help?

Oh Susan your kitties are adorable, it's a pleasure just to look at them! Thank you for giving us an opportunity to look at them. I am always happy to share. Not everyone appreciates cats and the joy they can be, so it's nice when someone does and can also enjoy them. I also have 3 grandkitties (my...

.... They are such comedians, I can't help but laugh at them, even when I am feeling bad. And I love taking pictures of them. I think they belong on http://icanhascheezburger.com/ esp. doing the "ceiling cat" impersonation ! CRguy Funny you should say that. I have actually submitted a cou...

Re: do your pets help?

I'm glad someone brought this up. There are days that my two cats are the only thing that keeps me going. They are such comedians, I can't help but laugh at them, even when I am feeling bad. And I love taking pictures of them. One of my concerns is that through treatment, I am still able to care for...

Re: New, recently diagnosed and a million questions

I[color=#0000FF] Don't let steroids scare the hell out of you, as they may not be part of your treatment, and even if they are, steroid tolerance differs from person to person. I'm sorry if I've worried you - I sincerely didn't mean to. I know you didn't mean to upset me. I'm just scared in general...

Re: My mom was recently diagnosed...SCARED!!!!

Your post could almost have been written by my daughter, but for a few minor details. I just turned 60 and until now have been in great health, very active and in great shape. We're an outdoorsy type family and look forward to our summer adventures when we can get together...camping, hiking, rafting...

Re: New, recently diagnosed and a million questions

If they don't automatically give you Ativan, ask for a prescription. It's great to have on hand for anxiety, especially that terrifying first month or two. I'm with Bev about the liver biopsy. Find out if you really need it. Big hugs to you! Julie I have a prescription for Xanax, but rarely take it...

Re: New, recently diagnosed and a million questions

... Steroids: I found, over time, that I was able to reduce my steroids, and then quit them altogether, as they made me a wee bit psychotic. That said, If I were you, I would try and start with the full dose and then, under doctors orders, slowly reduce your steroid dose if they are having a negati...

...but if you have an opportunity to move to Louisville, I'd take it -- just because it would have a larger cancer center. The Norton Cancer Institute in Louisville is an NCI Community Cancer Center which means you'd get excellent treatment there. Wish I was there to take you for port surgery on Tu...

Re: New, recently diagnosed and a million questions

Please do not worry about your hair! Your first protocol will likely be 5FU/oxaliplatin//Avastin or Xeloda/oxaliplatin/Avastin. Neither of them cause hair loss in most patients - perhaps some minor thinning, but nothing even your hairdresser would notice! There are other crc regimens that can cause...
