Re: Half way there and i'm just drained :(

A suggestion that may or may not help you (depending on insurance coverage) - see if you can get your chemo on Thursday or Friday, so you can do disconnect at home, rather than having to go in for it (conserve your energy), and ALSO have them give you IV fluids at disconnect (and IV antiemetics if y...

Re: mCRC STAGE IV OR RECURRENT PATIENTS thread - ONGOING

Hello I was diagnosed last January 2013 with stage 4 colon cancer. I have been in treatment for most of this time with a few weeks off in the summer. I just found the Colon Club and up until now I haven't really felt like joining in or contributing. I am not sure how this all works and I don't want...

Re: One year later

This is exactly what I hope for my family - for everyone to go on LIVING and enjoying life to the fullest, every day. And I want them to carry on my mission to spread the word about CRC and fight for funding for research and advocate for patients. Thank you for continuing to participate here to help...

Great news. I hope you can get your hands on some medical marijuana - makes a big difference with nausea, vomiting and appetite.

Re: What if surgeon is not board certified? 24 hours left.

My surgeon was a general surgeon. Their office specializes in hernias and abdominal surgeries. He did a fantastic job for me - removing most of my sigmoid. If I had a rectal tumor, I would ONLY go to a board certified colorectal surgeon. For colon, it doesn't concern me personally so much. I would w...

Re: Off Topic - Airfares

Although I don't travel for treatment - I do travel on business. I live nearly equal distance between three airports. Lansing, Flint and Metro Detroit. I most often fly out of Flint, and even though the flight out of Detroit would be the same one I would book if I flew direct out of Detroit, the 15...

Re: mCRC STAGE IV OR RECURRENT PATIENTS thread - ONGOING

I've been MIA for a week - out of town for my son's Army AIT graduation followed by 6 nights with my sister's family and some time with an old high school friend. I'm glad I was able to spend time with them. Overall I have not been feeling too well. I have nausea a lot, and I am not on any treatment...

Re: Very tough desicion.. I'm seeking 2nd opinion .. catch 2

Stay on clear liquids and do what you feel you need to do. When my tumor was finally found during colonoscopy (after 2 years of misdiagnosis) I was told that I was within a few days of fully obstructing. My GI called a surgeon immediately. I was given instructions to stay on clear liquids only. So m...

Re: disney, kids and stage IV

I'm sorry the trip was a bit of a letdown for you. But in the world of kids, I bet they talk about this trip for decades to come - with fond memories. Before my cancer we did a big family camping trip out west. The kids were 15, 12, 9 and 7. The two youngest really enjoyed themselves most of the tim...

Re: Kras Mutation Codon 12

New testing has determined that the EGFR drugs do not work for any KRAS mutation patients - regardless of codon. Earlier they thought it might help a very small percentage of KRAS mutants with specific mutations. I'm G13D and for a while they thought it could be helpful for me. Now the studies say n...

Re: GYRIG - Caregiver Grants - Apps accepted thru 11/30

My husband was the recipient of one of these awards after I applied for him. My daughters helped out with being caregiver to me the first couple years, but he has been the sole caregiver for over 2 years now.
