Re: Menopause and other fun female stuff

My advice is to go get a prescription for natural hormones of progesterone and estrogen. You can get this filled at a compounding pharmacy. I've been doing it for 7 years and it's awesome. No hot flashes. Plus my doctor had breast cancer and she wouldn't prescribe them if she thought they caused can...

Re: 5 Year Rectal Cancer Survivor

My tumor was small, only 2 cm but I had three positive lymph nodes so it was a pretty advanced stage. I had radiation, a temporary illeostomy that ended up being 6 months before I could get it reversed, an abcess and infection that delayed chemo , and then 6 months of chemo. I really think it was th...

Egg Donor After Radiation Therapy?

I'm a three year rectal cancer survivor and my gynocologist said I could carry a baby if I got an egg donor and hormone treatments at a fertility clinic. Has anyone else heard this? When I was first diagnosed I was told my uterus would be too damaged to carry a baby. I'm thinking of going to a ferti...

Re: Undy 5000 in Denver

Awesome. I am glad to see there are some members that are going to participate. I hope to see you there. I will be wearing the green boxer shorts with dachshunds on them (I have 2 dachshunds). My boyfriend and his daughter will be wearing doxie boxers too. This is going to be fun.

Pet/CT vs. cat scan

I would like to know what your monitoring procedure is after you finish chemo and treatment. My doctor had recommended a Pet/CT scan but the insurance company is denying it. They say I have to get a Cat scan first and then if something is suspicious on the cat scan then I could get a Pet/CT. Has any...

Radiation and Menopause

So I was told right before receiving radiation that it would make me infertile and put me into menopause. Doctors told me there was a 90% chance I couldn't have kids. So I am hanging on to the hope that I might be in the 10% chance range that I can and I have stopped taking birth control pills and a...

Re: Ladies and the whole radiation thing....

I agree. My radiation doctor was not much help. One thing to try instead of the dilator is a dildo/vibrator. I'm not kidding. It's much more pleasant than the hard plastic dilator. I was told by an gynecology oncologist to use it 4-5 times per week. I have a hard time finding the time or desire to d...

Are you keeping your colon? That makes a big difference. My surgeon removed my rectum and gave me a j pouch. I have my colon still and had a temp. illeostomy for 5 months. When I got reconnected it was really tough for the first week. I had a lot of diarrea. I think that had something to do with not...

You Dr. can prescribe you pills that they give you when you have a UTI. They turn your urine red and help numb the area when you pee. You don't have a UTI, it's just a side effect from radiation. I had the same thing. I believe you can get those over the counter too. I recommend Sitz baths, sitting ...
