Re: Neuropathy worse after end of chemo - help?

GQ....shoulder neuropathy? That sounds not good at all, especially for an artist. I wonder if that is why my hubby is complaining of his shoulder hurting him so too. He thought he strained it....but we couldn't determine HOW. So far the lyrica is mostly making hubs loopy and tired. He says it might ...

Re: Neuropathy worse after end of chemo - help?

Well, the onc called in lyrica for hubby and he is trying it. He says it makes him feel 'weird' whatever that really means but we'll see it if helps the pain or not. If not then we'll just try something else....or just wait....or something. Thanks so much for the help and support. I really hope that...

Re: How many of us are there?

I lurk.

I try to only ask when I need to and can't find answers otherwise. I try to answer when I can...but find many are much wiser and have been there/done that much more than me and hubby have.

Re: Neuropathy worse after end of chemo - help?

Yes, typing normal and chemo and cancer all in the same paragraph is just not quite right. Thanks for the response. Good to know that he shouldn't just wake up and feel better...I guess. Although that was sort of what we were hoping, I think, somewhere in the backs of our minds somewhere. He has jus...

Neuropathy worse after end of chemo - help?

Hi ya'll. Hubby finished his chemo mid January and all in all it went well. He goes for a final CT scan on Feb 15 and we pray it is clear. The 'bad' part is he hoped that when chemo was over he would start to feel better. And he isn't. He feels dizzy sometimes, his hands hurt more than they ever did...

Re: Don't Know What to Do; Need Some Advice

I'm praying that you receive good or ok news and can report honestly. If you do not I think you should go ahead and tell them the truth. You need them and their support; and you know that they would want to hear the news be it good or bad. If the situation was reversed and one of them didn't tell yo...

Re: Flu Shot

Well, so far so good. He went home and rested and felt much better. No fever, nothing else 'abnormal' except the normal abnormal stuff. So I guess it was make me worry for naught. I hope there is no chemo next year to worry about scheduling shots around, but if there is I'll make sure he does...

Re: Flu Shot

Thanks guys! Ya, he's home asleep now. There is a concert tonight he's been looking forward to for months now; I really hope he feels up to going. I was surprised by the timing of the shot, but didn't think much of it. I guess what is done is done now - hopefully in the future I won't have to worry ...

Flu Shot

Hubby just disconnected from the 6th treatment of FOLFOX and the onc gave him his flu shot. He is convinced it is making him sick. I say nay b/c it is a killed virus. I mean, if you feel bad - you feel bad. He says he doesn't feel well, like he is starting to get sick. No fever yet. IDK why it bothe...

Re: Seeking Caregiver Support!!!!!!

My husband had a colonoscopy on July 1, mass was found, sx was July 15th, chemo began August 15th. It's been an ordeal and he has been a difficult patient. Did I mention we've been married less than a year? It is so hard to see someone you love go through all of this. It is scary and it is heart wre...

Re: Side Effects/Nausea....Thought Induced?

You slipped in on me Gaelen... I totally agree with you about some being very suggestible and others less prone. My husband is the a fore mentioned - he the docs tell him something 'could' happen...it happens. It was like this before the cancer as well. I agree with you, as well, about doctors not t...

Re: Side Effects/Nausea....Thought Induced?

Thank you SO much Gaelen!!!! Your post hit the nail on the head. I'm going to work on a way to discuss this with Hubby so that he might listen to me and try some of the techniques. And, just to reiterate, I'm NOT saying that the nausea isn't REAL or justified. I'm just wondering HOW much of the naus...

Re: Side Effects/Nausea....Thought Induced?

Oh yes, I KNOW the side effects and the nausea are VERY, VERY real. I'm not discounting that at all. I just don't know to what extent he 'has it'. I guess it really doesn't matter - I'd just hate to think he could have it easier than he does if he'd just not think it up so much in his head. Hubby is...

Re: Side Effects/Nausea....Thought Induced?

He is on ativan - but doesn't take it all the time, just 'as needed'. They gave him emend with this last trx but it didn't help much. He has been taking compasine and zolfran with the ativan for the nausea.

Side Effects/Nausea....Thought Induced?

Hubby was disconnected yesterday from his second round of chemo. Monday was the infusion day. He was telling me Sunday night that he felt nauseous. I'm wondering if him thinking and worrying about the icky feelings and side effects might actually 'make' him have them - or make them worse? I'm not di...
