Re: My ONC released me

Congratulations!!! I was released in May after 10 years seeing my ONC. I follow what you do pretty much, but I have 2 dogs, so I walk about 4-5 miles a day. I do have permanent neuropathy but it is manageable with Lyrica. Glad to hear you are feeling great. My QOL is pretty good although I do have G...

Re: Newly diagnosed

Hi Caymangirl,

I waited until I was 51 also but my surgeon said that it was a slow growing cancer so I probably would have been in the exact position 1 year earlier. So don't beat yourself up for waiting.
Life gets in the way a lot of times.

Re: Oxaliplatin and neuropathy

Are you taking any medications for it? I have permanent neuropathy (almost 9 years now) and I take Lyrica which let's me have a good QOL. I walk at least 3 miles per day, the only thing I can't do is stand in one place, that is painful. I have not tried Chelation, but I would be curious if that woul...

Re: Colon Cancer, Obesity and Bariatric Surgery

I wanted to chime in because I was morbidly obese most of my early days. I am not an emotional eater so I do have that going for me. I lost 130 pounds through weight watchers when I was 26 and kept it off for many years until I was diagnosed in 2007. During treatments I gained 20-25 pounds and reall...

Re: How long do Folfox side effects last!

My experience was that my neuropathy set in at 2 months post last chemo. I did have it prior but nothing like it is now. Mine is permanent and I manage it with Lyrica. It took me about a year to get most of my energy back. You are probably much younger than me, I was 52 when I finished treatments. I...

Re: Just Got Diagnosed

I was also diagnosed at 51 after my first colonoscopy. I think it is more common than we thought. Take it a day at a time, things will go very fast. They take cancer very seriously. Welcome!!

Re: what is a normal weight loss for CRC surgery and chemo?

I lost about 15 pounds after surgery, put it back on and stayed the same during chemo. After reversal put on 20 pounds and that lasted about 6 years. Finally got rid of that but it took me a year and a half!! Back to my pre cancer weight.

Re: Neuropathy

I have permanent neuropathy now. I have had it since 2008. I have tried all drugs but I take Lyrica, it is the only one that gives me relief. I take it at night and I can get through 24 hours. The only thing I can not do is stand in one place for any length of time. I can walk forever!!

Re: Problems with Fingerprints (after chemo)

Hi Jaynee,

I realized I lost my finger prints when I tried to use my IPhone security with the fingerprint feature. Every time I set one up, it never worked, but my husband's worked like a charm... It was very frustrating!!

We lost our furbaby yesterday

I haven't posted in a long time, but read every day. Our Newfoundland was almost 9, he developed a limp and it was found that he was riddled with arthritis in his hips. We tried several drugs to keep him comfortable, but we lost the battle. We had someone come to the house yesterday to send him over...
