My husband loves my scar and calls it, "your Biatch scar" and he would like to tell people I got in a fight with a biatch and she stabbed me in the chest but I beat her up and won. Actually, he has said this to our friends. He usually makes me laugh with the way he tells it. When I first start...

I finished FolFox6 in May 07 and am still feeling some of the neuropathy in the fingers and feet. You described it well. My nailbeds died and my fingernails were constantly tearing, breaking or splitting for several months after chemo. I do want to tell you that last August a physical therapist givi...

Nursing Magazine Article

Hi all, I'm not sure how many people would have access to the following magazine, but the March/April issue of "Nursing Made Incredibly Easy!" has a great cover article titled, "Help Your Patient Conquer Colorectal Cancer". It is very insightful and comes from the point of view of new nurses and how...

I had infant twins born prematurely in 1983. One lived 3 days and one 33. We had separate private burials with closed casket. This was well before I had colon cancer and I can tell you the death of a baby can make you feel sick with grief.

May God Bless this child and parents.

Hi, I saw a nutritionist after my first round and she helped me with a list of foods to eat to stay healthy. However, my sister is a dietitian in another town. She came with me to a couple rounds of chemo and brought healthy foods for me when she visited. I finished chemo in May of 07 and after gett...

Hi Mary, I had the bad taste and dry mouth. Shortly after finishing chemo I had my dental checkup. The hygenist told me about Biotene products that you can get at the drugstore. She said chemo drugs can cause dry mouth which causes lots of bacteria in the mouth. Biotene makes dry mouth toothpaste, m...

Michele, How are you doing today? Have you been able to get help with the bleeding? I had actually gone on an estrogen pill 4 months before starting chemo (a month before diagnosis) because I was having so much trouble with my periods. Just before chemo I took myself off the estrogen because I never...

I finished chemo May of 2007. I am having oncology visits every 3 months for a year, then 6 months for a couple years. My husband had bladder cancer 4 years ago and his visits went the same way with a different doctor. I had a CT scan in Sept and colonoscopy in November. The gastroentroligist said I...

I'd definitely go for the blue star. I wish we could go for more than stamps though. I could not believe how many products were in pink packaging in the grocery store last October. My husband is a bladder cancer survivor (yellow ribbon is their color) and we both agree the only politically correct c...

Molly,
I want to thank you for starting this venture too. My husband found this for me last year when I was starting chemo and so many times the posts here got me through when others just couldn't quite understand.

Were you on a liquid only diet? After the surgery, no food or liquid for 2 days, then started off with liquids to soft food. What was the pain like? That was the first surgery I had ever had. Nurses told me to get a spinal block and I think it helped. Hard to move the stomach muscles for awhile, but...
