Re: Tom marsilje

I am so incredibly sad about Tom's passing. May he rest in peace. I hope that his family can take a little comfort in knowing what a difference he made in so many lives.

I don't post often but I've been around here since 2011. This took my breath away. I am heartbroken. Rest in peace Eric. You will be missed by so many.

How to talk to oncologist in Canada about 2nd opinion

My dad was recently turned down for HIPEC at Mt. Sinai in Toronto. We are currently seeking second opinions and since my parents are willing to travel they have a consultation set up at Johns Hopkins. My dad will be seeing his current oncologist here in Toronto next week to get the results of his re...

Re: Cure for chronic fecal impaction

Magnesium citrate! My dad uses it along with restoralax and lots of prune juice. I am also chronically constipated as is my 2 year old. Magnesium citrate works for both of us. I take a full adult dose (depends on which brand you buy) every day. When I find it's not enough I will double the dose. Unf...

Re: Juicing and vegetarian diet

Hi. It's so great that you are supporting your mom through this journey. I'm also trying to be there for my dad. I think juicing and a vegetarian diet could be beneficial only if your mom can tolerate it. During chemo eating is tough, so she should really eat whatever appeals to her. My mom juices f...

Re: No to Hipec

I'm so glad to be a member of this forum! Thanks Lee and Maia for responding so quickly. This morning's news was a big blow to my family and I still feel a little like I've been punched in the stomach. However, you taking the time to offer advice is very reassuring. I've since been in touch with Ros...

No to Hipec

My dad was diagnosed with a recurrence in June of 2016 after an original 2b diagnosis in 2011. I will figure out how to update my signature today, I promise. He completed 12 tx of Folfiri and Avastin at the end of November 2016 in hopes he would be a candidate for Hipec, since his cancer has only sp...

Re: Allergic Reaction to Oxi

I'm not sure if this is relevant to your mom's case, but I thought I'd share in case it is helpful. Five years ago when my dad was doing his adjuvant folfox treatments he had a severe allergic reaction to oxi during his second infusion. It was so bad that we had an ambulance rush him to the hospital...

Re: Counts too low...

My dad's naturopath recommends wheatgrass. She says you can use a wheatgrass capsule or buy the frozen wheatgrass from the health food store. We haven't tried it yet, but his naturopath works primarily with cancer patients so it might be worth a try. It also might be worth checking to make sure it d...
