Do not hesitate for a minute

While I don't want to frighten you, get into see a gastroenterologist right away. If your regular doctor tells you it's not necessary, find another doctor who will write the order. I was misdiagnosed because I trusted my regular doctor and it has affected the rest of my life. Don't let anybody do a ...

Illeostomy vs. Colostomy

As a Stage IIIb colorectal cancer survivor, I'm seeing lots of great advise on this page. While my surgeon was one of the best, we didn't mark the area where he was going to put my colostomy and it's about 1/2 inch too close to my navel which makes putting the wafer on a challenge. My friend was abl...

Yea Jane

Way to go!

Mine has been slowly climbing and while I'm still in the safe zone, test results in two days will tell all. While CEA tests are not that accurate it sure can calm my anxieties.

My best to you for future good results.

Best,
Tim

Bleeding

The only feedback I can give you is that you might want to get another opinion from a wound care specialist. The stoma is very delicate. A small scrape from your fingernail can cause a lot of bleeding. In cases where the bleeding is from a visible spot on the stoma, it can be caterized. It's painles...

Cancer Support Group

This past Wednesday night was the last night until I believe the 8th of January. I missed the meeting because a friend died in her sleep from something unrelated to cancer. Nitin Chandroumoulli has a great reputation at UCS. I love all those gals in the chemo room too. I hope to see you at the Cance...

Colorectal Cancer / Living with an Ostomy

This is good dialogue. I was stage 3 and now have a permanent ostomy. Did you know, Hollister has labeled me and others like me Ostomates? That cracked me up. Nearly everyday I irrigate my colon with 1500 cc's of warm distilled water. It's a mechanical ordeal because I refused to live with pooping i...

Platelette Gel

Lifes2short, Since we're in the same town I know the person to get your wound closed using the Platelette Gel procedure. In twelve treatments my wound was completely closed after closing and opening for two years. A man by the name of Les Bricker (lbricker@msn.com) started the company who originally...

TIM'S NEW YOU TUBE VIDEO

I just posted a candid interview I had with former Seattle Seahawks football player Stan Ellsworth who was a "rock" for me when I needed it. He has stuck through this 3 year cancer ordeal with me. The Link is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fEQViwNmRc Please feel free to comment here and on the You...

TIM'S STORY - (the guy making the documentary)

I've been talking with a newfound friend on this site and he asked me to tell my story. Here it is: A friend told me he had rectal bleeding and went see his doctor. I shared that I too had rectal bleeding and he made me promise to see my doctor which I did. My doc took a look up my butt with sigmoid...

Port vs. Pic

Ketel, Holy smokes! I hate hearing that people like you are being treated this way. I had a pic line and it got infected a lot and if there was any residual blood left under the line, it would cause problems. It kicks butt that you sat up and yelled at them. That is so great. Taught them a thing or ...

Diet response

Ketel, Amazing how nearly every oncologist will give you that blank stare when you ask about diet. As far as most of them are concerned, diet makes no difference. First to help mouth sores suck on ice chips while getting your dose of chemo. I didn't feel like eating much but sometimes something simp...

A NEW COLORECTAL CANCER DOCUMENTARY
